Key Points

  • The episode focuses on Ecclesiastes 3:1, a verse famously known through The Byrds' Grammy Hall of Fame song, "Turn! Turn! Turn!"
  • Allen Roberds shares his personal struggles with learning and accepting divine timing, specifically mentioning its connection to the law of tithing.
  • Listeners are encouraged to seek the Lord's timing in the various seasons of life, understanding that God's perspective and plan differ from our own.
  • A perceived "no" or dead end from the Lord might actually be His perfect timing, aligning us for greater blessings as part of His divine plan.

I am grateful to know that the Lord's timing is perfect, that I can be a part of it as I seek to understand it, and sometimes when receiving a 'no' in our life or seemingly hitting a dead end in our life, and we have no idea why, sometimes it's not the Lord saying 'no.' Sometimes, perhaps, it's the Lord saying, 'No.'

In Matthew 5, Jesus calls us the salt of the earth and the light of the world, reminding us that our lives are meant to preserve, illuminate, and point others to Him. This season on Savory Salt, we'll walk through the Old Testament, one verse and one thought each day. Perhaps these moments will add greater savor and brighter light to our lives as we seek to truly live as Savory Salt.

Hello, my friends, it's a new day with new opportunities. Choose Ye this day whom you will serve. Today we discuss, wait, the Grammy Hall of Fame?

Checks notes. Yep, that's what it says: the Grammy Hall of Fame. Alright, that's where we'll go, my friends, inside of Ecclesiastes as we shift gears from Proverbs over to Ecclesiastes for the day.

Yes, I realize when I say this verse today many people are going to start singing, although I want to make sure that we focus on the message from the scripture rather than get the song simply stuck in our heads. Do you know where I'm headed? Do you know that Ecclesiastes has a Grammy Hall of Fame song in it?

Our verse for today, Ecclesiastes chapter 3, verse 1, is the verse, although you're going to hear many of it through verses 1 through 8 in your own mind probably. Verse 1 says: "To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven." Now for those of you that just started singing The Byrds' song from I think it was the 60s, maybe the late 50s, early 60s, somewhere around there. Yes, The Byrds.

The guy that actually wrote this song only added about six words to the song itself. And then, somewhere in the early 2000s or so, it was added to the Grammy Hall of Fame. The song was by The Byrds.

Now, The Byrds called it "Turn! Turn! Turn!", but its subtitle or what it was originally called was "There is a Season to Everything There is a Season." What does it mean for us scripturally here?

I think there's an amazing lesson inside of this and the following verses in Ecclesiastes. "To everything there is a season and a time, to every purpose under the heaven." My friends, timing and the law of tithing has been one of the hardest lessons for me to learn in my life. And I can tell you right now, I still have not got it mastered. I'm trying to do better with that and accept the Lord as I mentioned in the Proverbs verse before in terms of trusting the Lord.

My friends, the law of timing fascinates me. There are seasons in our lives. I hope that as we work through the seasons in our lives, we can keep the perspective that our timing is not the Lord's timing and we can seek His timing to perhaps know better what we should be doing in the seasons of our lives.

I am grateful for the lessons I had in the Lord's timing, difficult though they may have been for me and sometimes still are for me. But I am grateful to know that the Lord's timing is perfect, that I can be a part of it as I seek to understand it, and sometimes when receiving a "no" in our life or seemingly hitting a dead end in our life, and we have no idea why, sometimes it's not the Lord saying "no." Sometimes, perhaps, it's the Lord saying, "No." The Bible says that the Lord is perfect. And it may just be a little bit of fine-tuning for you to be aligned with His timing and to see that law of harvest kick in in your life.

That's all for today, my friends. Thank you for watching.
