2.190 That He Lives! For We Saw Him

In Matthew 5.13, Jesus calls us the salt of the earth, a bold reminder that our lives are meant to carry his flavor, his truth, and his love to the world. Join me each day to explore one verse of scripture and one thought, striving to stay full of savor and truly live as savory salt. Hello my friends, it's great to have you with me.

Today let's be anxiously engaged in a good cause and bring to pass much righteousness. I am loving Doctrine and Covenants section 76 and today we see the reason why they called it the vision. As we dive into our verses we're also reading this week Alma chapters 25 through 28 and we will get there but there's so much in 76 we got to dive into.

Our verse for today is Doctrine and Covenants 76 verse 23 Now really you could pick 22 23 24 25 really 22 through 24 But here we get from the prophet Joseph Smith and Sidney Rigdon a personal witness of a living Jesus Christ At the end of verse 22 they bear testimony that he lives And then in verse 23 we get this For we saw him even on the right hand of God and we heard the voice bearing record that he is the only begotten of the Father My friends, a blessing of a witness of Jesus Christ does not have to be based in sight only. I am so grateful for the witness that Joseph and Sidney can bear here, that they saw a living Jesus Christ. Apostles and prophets of today bear testimony regularly of a living Jesus Christ.

You and I have the opportunity to do so as well. We can do as the scriptures say and bear witness through the spiritual experiences that we've had, the feelings, the manifestations we have experienced. Now Doctrine and Covenants 76 speaks obviously on the kingdoms of the afterlife.

It is quite an interesting revelation. And this testimony of Jesus Christ really has me reflecting on the passing of my parents. It still fairly close to me as they both passed within the last two years It led me down a conference talk by President Thomas S Monson He was a counselor in the presidency at the time But it was in October of 2001 which would have been only a number of weeks after the events of September 11th in the United States with the two towers coming down and so many deaths so much chaos happening And here within that couple of weeks, here President Monson had a message to give.

It's called Now is the Time. This is what he has to say. I've been thinking about making some course corrections in my life.

I plan to take the first step tomorrow. With such thinking, tomorrow is forever. Such tomorrows rarely come unless we do something about them today.
