In Matthew 5.13, Jesus calls us the salt of the earth, a bold reminder that our lives are meant to carry his flavor, his truth, and his love to the world. Join me each day to explore one verse of scripture and one thought, striving to stay full of savor and truly live as savory salt. Hello, my friends, great to have you with me today.
Let's be anxiously engaged in a good cause and bring to pass much righteousness. And can I just start off by saying a very happy Easter to you and your families. Wherever you are, however you celebrate it, Jesus Christ lives.
I bear testimony of that on this Easter morning. This week we have had a great variety of studying from the Book of Mormon as well as different selected readings as we've gone through Easter's Holy Week. You are wrapping up this week with Jarom, Omni, Words of Mormon, and Mosiah chapters 1 and 2.
Next week we'll get back into Doctrine and Covenants as well as continue our Book of Mormon reading. And reading today for our verse, very difficult to try and pick verses that can speak to what Easter is for me. This has been the first Easter season without my mom and my dad together.
As I've mentioned before on this podcast, my dad passed away a while back, and then my mom passed away just last fall. I guess last, kind of in between fall and winter time. And this Easter season has been particularly close for me to feel of the spirit of what resurrection can truly mean for each of us.
And this verse is one that I picked deliberately and intentionally to share with you. It's a little bit of how I look forward to the day when I get to meet my Savior. It's going to be in John chapter 20, which is a great chapter to spend some time, especially if you're considering an Easter message.
And it's going to be verse 16. This is with Mary, who has come and gone and been very frightened that the body of Jesus Christ is gone. And then she comes back.
They have a little bit of an interaction. And in 16, Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master.
Now there are two pieces of this verse that I absolutely love and I want to share with you today. The first one is Jesus knows Mary. And I can tell you, my friends, Jesus knows you.
Jesus knows Allen. Jesus knows his kids. Jesus knows you, your brothers and sisters, your children, your grandchildren, your mom and dad.
Jesus knows each of us. The second part of this verse that I absolutely love is she turns herself and says, Master. She knows him.
And although the interaction that occurred before this was not one where she recognized him, when he spoke to her, she knew who spoke. She knew his voice. She knew who he was, as he called her by name.
My friends, I hope that I am getting to know my Savior every day, more and more. And I hope that I can recognize him and his voice the day he calls my name. That is a day I look forward to.
I've been thinking a lot about the loss of my parents. And it's interesting how that works the first year after, because you go through each holiday, it's like it comes back around. And yet I sit here in this Easter season with love.
We all can truly thank Jesus Christ face to face. All of these things are in the Holy Spirit's face for His atoning sacrifice for each one of us. And I'm excited for the day that I get to hug my family.
Because He lives, they too can live. And that's my testimony today. That's all for today, my friends.
Lift up your hearts and rejoice. He lives. Cleave unto the covenants you have made with Him and your Heavenly Father. And together we will be savory salt.
