In Matthew 5:13, Jesus calls us the salt of the earth, a bold reminder that our lives are meant to carry his flavor, his truth, and his love to the world. Join me each day to explore one verse of scripture and one thought, striving to stay full of savor and truly live as savory salt. Hello, my friends, great to have you with me.
Today let's be anxiously engaged in a good cause and bring to pass much righteousness. We are getting to the tail end of this incredible Holy Week. I hope that you are doing wonderful Easter traditions, whether they're new to you or whether you've been doing them for some time.
And I hope it's brought a greater focus to Jesus Christ and his resurrection, his life, the living God. We're going to look at one more piece of our Book of Mormon reading this week before we finish off with another Easter scripture and thought tomorrow. Our verse for today is going to come from Words of Mormon, actually.
This week you've been reading Jarom, Omni, Words of Mormon, and Mosiah 1 and 2. I'll get a little bit more into the Mosiah ones as we move into Mosiah next week. But today, in Words of Mormon, I love the little piece here that Mormon gives us as he transitions the records, and I love his insight.
And in this one, I thought, how is this an Easter message? And then, as I sat, kind of as I typically do here, pondering and meditating and praying on the messages for Savory Salt, I landed on it. I hope it's one that you and I can take into our lives.
Words of Mormon 1:7 says this: "And I do this for a wise purpose. For thus it whispereth me, according to the workings of the Spirit of the Lord which is in me. And now I do not know all things, but the Lord knoweth all things which are to come.
Wherefore he worketh in me to do according to his will." Now, I love how Mormon realizes that the work that he's doing, specifically inside of these records and whatnot, right? But the work that he's doing is a wise purpose, but it's something that he doesn't fully understand. He just seems to be following the Spirit, and the Spirit leads him into doing all things.
That's how the Lord can work in us according to His will this week. Sure, we can share the Easter message, which has been great and exciting for me. I love sharing the message of Jesus Christ.
I had an awesome phone call with a group of professionals that I meet with, and I took an opportunity to share the message of Jesus Christ with them. But I also want you to think into the way that he's inspiring you to work according to his will. Service would be a wonderful opportunity this week.
Who could you serve in remembrance of Jesus Christ? Who could use your hands and feet, or your attention, or your ears to hear what they have to share? Service is a wonderful opportunity to share the love of Jesus Christ with others.
I know that I have experienced many angels touching my life who were willing to listen. I hope that I've taken those opportunities and listened, as Mormon has said. My friends, service to others is an opportunity to do and be what Jesus Christ would do if he were on the earth today.
I hope that that's an opportunity we all take. So consider today an act of service you may do and listen to what the Spirit may prompt you. It may even be something you're not even aware of right now, but take some time to think into it and allow the Spirit to inspire you to go forward and serve as Jesus Christ has served all of us.
That's all for today, my friends. Lift up your hearts and rejoice. Cleave into the covenants you have made and together we will be savory salt.
