In Matthew 5:13, Jesus tells his followers that they are the salt of the earth, and in the same sentence offers a warning that savorless salt is good for nothing. Join me in an attempt to be savory salt as I share each day one verse of scripture and one small thought. Perhaps this small daily emphasis can lead to greater savor in your life and ultimately you and I can be savory salt.

Hello, my friends and family, wherever you're listening from. Thank you for joining me and know that I'm cheering for your every success. Today, a safety net for those on the covenant path.

Welcome to day 363 on our 365-day journey through the Book of Mormon together. Today, you're going to be reading Moroni chapter 8, verses 19 through 30; Moroni 9, verses 1 through 9. Now, inside Moroni chapter 8, as we mentioned yesterday, he's talking about why children, babies and children, don't need to be baptized, and gets kind of into a doctrinal lens there.

And then he gets into the idea of baptism, and that leads us into our verse for today. Now, really, the two of these are kind of a tandem, go together because it's the middle of a sentence. Verse 25 is not our verse, but 25 is talking about how repentance brings you into a state of baptism.

And then as you are baptized, you're fulfilling the commandments, you're getting a remission of your sins. So these are kind of these pieces building together. And then we get verse 26.

It is a power verse. Moroni chapter 8, verse 26 says: "And the remission of sins bringeth meekness and lowliness of heart. And because of meekness and lowliness of heart cometh the visitation of the Holy Ghost, which Comforter filleth with hope and perfect love, which love endureth by diligence unto prayer, until the end shall come, when all the saints shall dwell with God." Now, did you hear all those pieces of the safety net building together?

Repentance comes into play. Baptism comes into play. You're now on the covenant path.

You're following the commandments. You're fulfilling them. You're receiving a remission of your sins.

You become meek and lowly of heart. And side note on that one, I'm going to put a link in here to one of my favorite talks on meekness and lowliness of heart by Elder Bednar. The Holy Ghost, which Comforter filleth with hope and perfect love.

Now you're filled with hope. Now you've got meekness, lowliness of heart, hope, love. The spirit endureth by diligence unto prayer.

Now, prayer comes into play. And all of this comes together and becomes a safety net for you and I, for all those Saints that have chosen to enter the covenant path. Some of the places that we've visited in this series are in the Covenant Path, but we'll get to that in a minute, until they dwell with God again.

Wow, my friends, can you see how this safety net keeps us inside on the covenant path? This is an opportunity for us to realize that when we do make mistakes and we enter into remission of sins, we seek repentance after our mistakes. This safety net comes back into play.

All of these pieces built together and opens an opportunity for us to keep the Spirit in. Thank you so much for joining us today. Ooh, we have a lot to just sort of get into a little bit here.

Okay, so meekness is amazing. The best time to build the net is right now in our lives. The best time to build the net is on a daily basis where we seek to repent, where we seek to have these attributes in our lives so that the Holy Ghost can be filled in our hearts and we can stand with hope and perfect love.

So that when we do have those trials and difficulties in our lives, we're able to face them with the Spirit of the Lord to uplift us and strengthen us by diligence unto prayer. I love this verse. I hope you can find inside of it a love for it as well as you seek to apply it to your own life.

That's all for today, my friends. Remember that by small and simple things are great things brought to pass. Keep it small, keep it simple, and always seek to be savory salt. I'll be here tomorrow, and I hope you are too.
