Day 352 The Lord Makes Weak Things Strong
Show Notes
This episode reflects on Ether 12:27, where the Lord promises to make weak things strong for those who humble themselves and have faith in Him. Discover how facing our weaknesses with humility, as Moroni did, allows God's grace to transform them into strengths, guiding you to a path of savory salt.
Key Points
- Ether 12:27 teaches that God gives men weakness to foster humility, and His grace is sufficient to transform those weaknesses into strengths through faith.
- Many people naturally avoid confronting their own weaknesses, preferring to highlight their strengths and hide their flaws.
- By embracing humility and faith in the Lord, individuals can experience divine transformation, turning their perceived weaknesses into powerful assets.
- Moroni's example from the Book of Mormon demonstrates how God honored his humility and faith, ensuring his 'weak' writings became strong despite mockery.
- Listeners are encouraged to identify their own weaknesses and bring them before the Lord with faith, allowing Him to strengthen them for greater service.
Let's take an opportunity to dig into our own weaknesses and face them in front of the Lord in humility and faith and seek for his hand in our lives to help make those weaknesses become strengths.

In Matthew 5:13, Jesus tells his followers that they are the salt of the earth, and in the same sentence offers a warning that savorless salt is good for nothing. Join me in an attempt to be savory salt as I share each day one verse of scripture and one small thought. Perhaps this small daily emphasis can lead to greater savor in your life and ultimately you and I can be savory salt.
Hello, my friends and family, wherever you're listening from. Thank you for joining me and know that I'm cheering for your every success. Look at my weaknesses, not without the Lord.
Welcome to day 352 on our 365-day journey through the Book of Mormon together. Today, you're going to be reading Ether chapter 12, verses 19 through 35. We're going to continue Moroni's discussion, worried that the words that he had chosen and the way he was going to write them are going to be mocked in the future.
And that people are going to make light of them and not take the prophecies seriously. This is where we then get a response from the Lord inside of our reading today in Ether 12:27. The Lord, in responding to Moroni and his fear of the weakness of his writing, says, "And if men come unto me, I will show unto them their weakness.
I give unto men weakness, that they may be humble. And my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me. For if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, Then will I make weak things become strong unto them." Now, looking at our own weaknesses in the mirror is one of the most shunned things in the world today.
People do not want to look and see the ways that they are weak in their lives. It is our natural tendencies to want to be able to bring forward the best of us and hide the things that are the worst of us. And yet, inside this verse, this is a power verse for us to realize that when we come forth with faith in the Lord, being humble because of our weaknesses, the Lord can make that weakness or those weaknesses strengths.
That is very empowering. Let's take Moroni's real-life example here for just a second. Moroni was worried that the words would be mocked and the words that we know that he's written have become the Book of Mormon today.
Now, is the Book of Mormon mocked inside of society today? In some circles, the answer is yes. So, you could look at that and say, "Oh, Moroni, sorry about that." Or you could see and realize that the Book of Mormon today has gone from its original Moroni concern.
Here, the Lord answered and said, "Have faith, be humble. I will make it strong." He can do it for Moroni, and it means that he can do it for you and I as well. So let's take an opportunity to dig into our own weaknesses and face them in front of the Lord in humility and faith and seek for his hand in our lives to help make those weaknesses become strengths.
And as we do that, those strengths will be able to go forward and we'll better be able to continue to serve the Lord together. That is a path of savory salt for sure. That's all for today, my friends.
Remember that by small and simple things are great things brought to pass. Keep it small, keep it simple, and always seek to be savory salt. I'll be here tomorrow, and I hope you are too.
