Show Notes
Join Allen Roberds on Savory Salt as he reflects on 2 Nephi 27:23, highlighting that God is an unchanging God of miracles who works according to our faith. This episode explores how God's processes, prophets, priesthood power, and purpose remain the same 'yesterday, today, and forever,' inviting listeners to increase their faith and seek miracles.
Key Points
- God is an unchanging God of miracles who works among men according to their faith, as revealed in 2 Nephi 27:23.
- Listeners are encouraged to perform a 'faith check' to assess their obedience and increase their faith for greater divine intervention.
- The unchanging nature of God is manifest in His consistent processes through Jesus Christ, His use of prophets, His priesthood power, and His eternal purpose for humanity.
- Recognizing God's past miracles provides assurance that He will continue to work miracles today for those who seek and follow Him with faith.
I love this verse and I love seeing and seeking miracles in my own life. And this verse helps me remember that he has done miracles in the past, which means he's going to do them forward. And he's done it based according to the faith of those that seek and follow him. And I want to be one of those people. I hope you want to be one of those people as well.

In Matthew 5:13, Jesus tells his followers that they are the salt of the earth, and in the same sentence offers a warning that savorless salt is good for nothing. Join me in an attempt to be savory salt as I share each day one verse of scripture and one small thought. Perhaps this small daily emphasis can lead to greater savor in your life and ultimately you and I can be savory salt.
Hello, my friends and family, wherever you're listening from. Thank you for joining me and know that I'm cheering for your every success. Welcome back.
We are on day 77 today. Well done, Roland. We got our double digits going on today.
And we are on our 365-day journey in the middle of 2 Nephi chapter 27. Today's reading comes in the middle of that. It is 2 Nephi chapter 27, verses 12 through 28.
And I hope you're enjoying this because this Isaiah chapter, as I mentioned yesterday, is a little bit more understandable. At least it reads a little bit easier to me. Yesterday we talked about how Isaiah is kind of doing some prophesying about the coming forth of the Book of Mormon and a few other things, the restoration of the gospel.
And an honorable mention goes out to verse 26, if you want to get kind of the popular verse that is 26 with the marvelous work and wonder. But today for us, we're going to look at verse 23 from chapter 27. And this is what verse 23 says, For behold, I am God, and I am a God of miracles.
And I will show unto the world that I am the same yesterday, today, and forever. And I work not among the children of men, save it be according to their faith. Now, I love this one because, first of all, the Lord lets us know right there on the tail end that his work happens through our faith.
And so if things aren't happening in our lives, it's worth doing a little faith check for us and see where we could increase our faith or increase our obedience to his laws. Now, the other thing that I think is interesting here, I've kind of settled on a bunch of P's here as I've thought about this, and I'll share those with you. This concept that God is a God of miracles and that he works the same yesterday, today, and forever.
And here a few of the Ps that I thought about in terms of the way that God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He is the same through his processes, his prophets, his priesthood power, and his purpose. Now his process has always been the same and that is to work through his son Jesus Christ.
The world was created through Jesus Christ. The Church is restored and the church was first put on the earth through Jesus Christ. Before Jesus Christ came to earth, all things pointed to him in a matter of symbol, in the practices that they had.
I guess there's another P there, even in the practices that the Lord has. The Lord worked through prophets in olden days and it is the same today. The Lord continues today to work through prophets.
He works through priesthood power and authority. He did that all the way back with Adam and has done so with all of the prophets up until the modern day. And the priesthood power was restored to the earth through Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery.
And he is the same yesterday, today, and forever through his purpose to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man. God is a God of miracles.
That's all for today, my friends. Remember that by small and simple things are great things brought to pass.
Keep it small, keep it simple, and always seek to be savory salt. I'll be here tomorrow and I hope you are too.
