In Matthew 5:13, Jesus tells his followers that they are the salt of the earth, and in the same sentence offers a warning that savorless salt is good for nothing. Join me in an attempt to be savory salt as I share each day one verse of scripture and one small thought. Perhaps this small daily emphasis can lead to greater savor in your life and ultimately you and I can be savory salt.

Hello, my friends and family, wherever you're listening from. Thank you for joining me and know that I'm cheering for your every success. Welcome to day 76 on our 365-day journey through the Book of Mormon.

Today, you're going to be reading from 2 Nephi chapter 27, verses 1 through 11. Now, fair warning, this is an Isaiah chapter. I mentioned before that we're going to have one more of these chapters, and yet this Isaiah chapter reads quite differently from the previous ones.

At least it does for me. There seems to be, maybe I just got Isaiah right, maybe I just got a little bit more familiarized with his way of writing, but this seems to speak a lot clearer to me. I'm excited to share the thoughts that I have today around it because there, if you want to read into this one, the full chapter—I mean, we're going to read it over the next couple of days—but these verses, some of them start to become pretty clear what Isaiah is talking about.

And at least through the lens of how we, in the, you know, the members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, how we interpret these chapters, is this is Isaiah actually seeing the coming forth of the Book of Mormon. It's kind of exciting to see and to see the way that Isaiah describes it because there's a lot of things in Church history that resonate with the way that Isaiah saw this coming to pass. The verse today, however, is not on the Book of Mormon.

The verse today is going to come from verse 3 and we're going to talk about that one for just a second. So let's dive into that. Verse 3 says, This one is fascinating to me because we get an interesting image here through Isaiah's writings.

We see a man dreaming, right? And he's dreaming about having these feasts, and he wakes up super hungry, or he dreams about having, you know, an incredible drink and having some water or whatever it is he's drinking. And then he wakes up and is super thirsty and parched.

And I love the section here. It says, "and his soul hath appetite." That's so interesting to me because we're living in a day-to-day where people's souls have appetite. They're wanting something more.

And it got me thinking about Doctrine and Covenants 123:12. I'm not going to quote that one. That would be two scriptures in one day, but I will grab the little segment from it where it says that there are those that are only kept from the truth because they know not where to find it.

It got me thinking of a friend and mentor of mine in my life who has talked about a time in his past where he shared a time where his bank account was full, but his soul felt empty. And I think that speaks really interestingly to the way that Isaiah talks about these last days. So I want to encourage you to be the light in someone else's life.

Be the person that perhaps shares a thought from Jesus Christ or a message about Jesus Christ, or even talks about how the Holy Ghost has filled you in your life. Talk about those feelings and share them with others because there may be those that are simply feeling empty and don't know what to do about it. And those of us in the world that are filled with the Spirit can share that with others.

In fact, the more we share that with others, the more it fills the earth and the more it provides an opportunity for the Lord to continue his work here on the earth. Share a bit of your light. Don't worry about doing it a lot, you know, I mean, right?

We're talking about little things, small and simple, but share your light with those around you because you never know who may be experiencing that soul "that hath appetite." Definitely worth digging into today. But that's all I have for today, my friends. Remember that "by small and simple things are great things brought to pass." Keep it small, keep it simple, and always seek.

I'll be here tomorrow. I hope you are too.
