In Matthew 5:13, Jesus tells his followers that they are the salt of the earth, and in the same sentence offers a warning that savorless salt is good for nothing. Join me in an attempt to be savory salt as I share each day one verse of scripture and one small thought. Perhaps this small daily emphasis can lead to greater savor in your life and ultimately you and I can be savory salt.
Hello, my friends and family, wherever you're listening from. Thank you for joining me and know that I'm cheering for your every success. Welcome back to day 73 on our 365-day journey through the Book of Mormon together.
I hope you're enjoying chapters 25 and moving into 26 today because we're going to continue Nephi's plainness when it comes to talking about Jesus Christ. In fact, today is probably one of those highlight scriptures. I got to be honest.
This is one that motivates me, empowers me, and gets me excited to share the gospel of Jesus Christ. So let's dive into it. Today you're going to read 2 Nephi 25:20.
So you're going to finish that chapter. And then you're just barely going to break into 2 Nephi 26:1. Our scripture today is going to come from 2 Nephi chapter 25, and we're going to look—I wanted, I got to throw an honorable mention to verse 23, although there are many inside this chapter, let's be honest.
I wanted to do 23, but I'm going to settle on 26 here because of its nature. Let's read 26 together and then let's talk about it. And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins.
You know, this scripture is so empowering and it's a reality check for me as a father, as a teacher, whether inside the Church or outside the Church. Thank you for joining us today. Preaching and prophesying of Jesus Christ.
This is an opportunity for me to say, "Wow!" As a father, I want to take every chance I can to help my children know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins. And not just a remission of their sins, but my children—I've talked about this before in the podcast—but my girls have been very open that they're told regularly about how difficult their generation is and how lost their generation is and how the future of their generation is so dark and how things are just not going to be great. And it's very difficult for them because the flip side of that coin is that the future is incredibly bright, especially for the followers of Jesus Christ.
He is going to draw light into their lives. And Nephi here is going to say, "Look, I'm going to do everything in my power to make sure that my kids and my grandkids and the neighbor's kids and the neighbor's neighbor's kids and the kids down the street and the kids that I don't even know, that they all have an opportunity to hear about Jesus Christ." I'm grateful for my own opportunities to share my testimony of Jesus Christ in my daily work, to share it with friends that don't share my same faith but certainly have feelings around Jesus Christ or even questions around Jesus Christ. I talk openly with my friends, and sometimes it gets a little uncomfortable, and I'm a little nervous about what I'm going to say.
But as long as I lean into the Spirit, I find myself open and ready to testify of Jesus Christ as my Savior and to give people an opportunity to see what source they can turn to for remission of their sins. I hope you can find that in your life as well as you seek to bring a little bit of more savory salt in your life. That's all for today, my friends.
Remember that by small and simple things are great things brought to pass. Keep it small, keep it simple, and always seek to be savory salt. I'll be here tomorrow. I hope you are too.
