In Matthew 5:13, Jesus tells his followers that they are the salt of the earth, and in the same sentence offers a warning that savorless salt is good for nothing. Join me in an attempt to be savory salt as I share each day one verse of scripture and one small thought. Perhaps this small daily emphasis can lead to greater savor in your life, and ultimately you and I can be savory salt.

I'm including those of you that are jumping in from other countries outside of the United States. Thank you for joining me and I'm cheering for your success as well. If we ever get to meet, I'll high-five you and say you got this, just like I would anybody else.
So thank you for joining me. Day 15 today on your 365-day reading path takes us into 1 Nephi chapter 10, and you're going to be reading verses 1 through 17. This chapter is a really powerful chapter.
It's Nephi referring back to his father Lehi, and Lehi is going to prophesy of Jesus Christ and of others to his family. And so, when you're considering one of the purposes of the Book of Mormon being the convincing that Jesus is the Christ, this is an awesome chapter to reference. Today's verse comes from verse 4, and it does speak specifically about this idea of prophesying.
He's talking again about Lehi, and it says this: It says, Even a Messiah, or in other words, a Savior of the world. I want to testify to you and let you know that prophets testify of Jesus Christ. They did it in times of old, hundreds of years before the coming of Jesus Christ, and they do it today.
As of this recording, a living prophet on the earth is Russell M. Nelson, and he certainly testifies of Jesus Christ as Messiah and Savior of the world. And I want to share one quick story in my life, a time when I was in my teens.
We were attending as a family a stake conference. Now, if you're not familiar with a stake conference, it's kind of a regional gathering of church members on a Sunday. Okay.
And my family had sat where we always sit, which is the back row to the right. We always sat on the back row. The meeting was just getting started.
The intro music was playing. And just behind us was the doorway to the chapel. In walked at the time, the prophet.
It was Gordon B. Hinckley. President Gordon B.
Hinckley came in, and everyone in the congregation stood out of respect. And then President Hinckley, as he came in and turned the corner to walk up to the stand. He stopped and shook some hands, and I watched him shake my dad's hand.
And at the time, I was a teenager. I'm still kind of figuring out where I stand and what my testimony really is and what I believe, but something happened there that really affected me, and the power that I felt inside of that moment was something I could never forget. And it was the beginning for me of really understanding the power that comes when those that are called to be special witnesses of Jesus Christ testify of Jesus Christ.
It was a powerful moment for me. I hope you have opportunities in your life, if not physically, to handshake a prophet. Maybe so.
But if not, seek out the words of the prophets. Learn who they are. Hear the words that they have to say.
See the effect that they have in your life. That's all for today. Remember that "by small and simple things are great things brought to pass." Keep it small.
Keep it simple. And always seek to be savory salt. I'll be here tomorrow. I hope you are too.
