In Matthew 5, Jesus calls us the salt of the earth and the light of the world, reminding us that our lives are meant to preserve, illuminate, and point others to him. This season on Savory Salt, we'll walk through the Old Testament, one verse and one thought each day. Perhaps these moments will add greater savor and brighter light to our lives as we seek to truly live as Savory Salt.

Hello, my friends. It's a new day with new opportunities. Choose ye this day whom you will serve.

Do you remember the conversation that Jesus has with the woman at the well? As he's talking to her about water and the living waters and never thirsting again. That conversation stews in my mind from time to time as I consider the promise that Jesus gives of living waters.

Never thirsting again. That's where I want to start as we dive into our readings this week in Isaiah 58 through 66. And I can't believe I'm actually saying this, but I'm a bit sad to come to the end of Isaiah.

It has been such an enriching section of study these last several weeks. And I hope you've been able to enjoy it and find growth in your own personal study of Isaiah as well. Let's look at our verse for today.

Isaiah 58 is a power chapter on the law of the fast and an opportunity to fast and the blessings that come with it and the obligations with it as well. It's quite an interesting chapter here. And fasting inside of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is a regular thing.

We do it or we're supposed to do it on a monthly basis. And the Lord shall guide thee continually and satisfy thy soul in drought and make fat thy bones and thou shalt be like a watered garden and like a spring of water whose waters fail not. Now we've talked often throughout our study of Isaiah here how Isaiah speaks so much like the Messiah speaks, like Jesus Christ speaks when he comes.

And I think a lot of that is that prophetic voice of Isaiah coming through. And I think a lot of it is Jesus Christ making sure that Isaiah's words are true inside of it. But did you catch the imagery inside of this?

It's beautiful. It's amazing. The Lord shall guide thee continually and satisfy thy soul in drought.

Has your soul ever just been dry, tired, beaten down, empty? Here the Lord promises through fasting to make fat thy bones. I know that through fasting and prayer, miracles have happened in my family life.

I know it's happened in my extended family's lives as well as we joined together in fasting and prayer. And I hope that you and I can take fasting to a new level as we focus on the Lord. Thank you for watching. Thanks for watching!
