In Matthew 5, Jesus calls us the salt of the earth and the light of the world, reminding us that our lives are meant to preserve, illuminate, and point others to him. This season on Savory Salt, we'll walk through the Old Testament, one verse and one thought each day. Perhaps these moments will add greater savor and brighter light to our lives as we seek to truly live as Savory Salt.

Hello, my friends. It's a new day with new opportunities. "Choose ye this day whom you will serve." How is your list going? Did you hear yesterday's episode?

Did you make a list? Is it still growing? Have you not started?

I'm going to start with a little bit of a story about my life. All of complexity in so many different ways emotionally, physically, spiritually, mentally. What does trust mean for you and for me?

We are going to dive into our verse for today. We're reading Isaiah 13 through 35, and our verse is going to come in at Isaiah chapter 26. Inside of it, it is a pretty short verse but direct in nature.

I love it when prophets are blunt. Verse 4 says this: "Trust ye in the Lord forever, for in the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength." Now, my friends, that operative trust word right there can be exceptionally difficult. Sometimes we face general chaotic situations around us, and by that I mean like large geopolitical events we've kind of talked about, or earthquakes, or weather hurricanes, those types of things.

Those are big ones. But sometimes we face very specific personal challenges as well. And I think it's in those personal challenges that our trust in the Lord gets sometimes challenged the most.

But I wanted to talk about this idea, both parts of this. Trust in the Lord forever. For in the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength.

You ever thought about how long forever is? I don't even know that our brains can process forever. The Bible says that the Lord relying that he will be that strength in our lives everlastingly.

I've had a lot of scenarios recently in my life, I know my family members are facing some as well, where it just seems like right now trusting in the Lord is kind of one of the only things left to do. Thank you for watching. My friends, I can testify that when I will take the time to reassert my faith and trust in Jesus Christ, I find strength in Him.

He truly is my everlasting strength. I've found it in some of my hardest times with loss of loved ones, my parents, something I've talked about often here. But I've also found it in times where it just seems like in the moment everything else in my life is going wrong.

I hope that today as you go forward, hopefully your list from yesterday helps with that. I hope that today you can reemphasize that trust in the Lord and find His strength in your life as well. If I could ask one thing at the end of this episode, actually, I don't typically ask for them, but I'm going to ask for one thing here.

This episode is actually in the lifetime span of Savory Salt. This is episode 999. I have done this with occasionally Hope and Kira jumping in here, but we've done this 999 consecutive days.

So I've just got one request, if you would. Tomorrow, first of all, I hope you tune in, but I hope you would take an opportunity to invite someone to listen to it as well. Tomorrow is 1,000 consecutive days of Savory Salt for my life, and maybe you've been in for one or two of those.

Maybe you've been along the ride for two or three hundred of those. If you're a fan of the podcast, please subscribe to the channel. Thank you for watching. Thank you for watching!
