3.330 Thou Art Mindful of (Me)

In Matthew 5, Jesus calls us the salt of the earth and the light of the world, reminding us that our lives are meant to preserve, illuminate, and point others to him. This season on Savory Salt, we'll walk through the Old Testament, one verse and one thought each day. Perhaps these moments will add greater savor and brighter light to our lives as we seek to truly live as Savory Salt.

Hello, my friends. It's a new day with new opportunities. Choose ye this day whom you will serve.

How in the world are we supposed to only do single verses when the entire psalm itself is so amazing? That is the struggle that I am facing as we go through our reading of psalms. We are reading this week Psalms 1 and 2, 8, 19 through 33, 40 and 46.

It's probably the last time I cover that one specifically like that this week. We're going to take a look at Psalm 8 inside of our verse for today. Again, please take the time to go through all of them because picking one verse here out of these really is like taking one line out of your favorite song.

I also am going to include inside of many of the episodes that we have this week and throughout the coming weeks with Psalms, some of my favorite music or songs as well. I hope you take an opportunity to follow some of those links. Sorry if I send you to YouTube and you're not a fan or whatever.

You can still look up the song or look up your favorite version of the songs that I provide and spend some time inside of music. You see where I'm going, perhaps, but in verse 4 it says, What is man that thou art mindful of him, and the son of man that thou visitest him? My friends, the world, the universe is so incredibly vast.

How humbling is it to pause and consider that our Heavenly Father knows each of us individually. What about the Savior and His atonement? So universal across everyone — pains, sorrows, sicknesses, sins, adversities.

And yet when we say everyone, that includes you, the individual, as well. The Bible is a book of the Holy Spirit. In terms of when I was growing up with my parents and music that they loved.

To the hymn, "How Great Thou Art." Now it's been sung a million different ways in a hundred different locations. So I wanted to just bring up "How Great Thou Art" and its concept there. In terms of the vastness of contemplating the universe and yet how personal the Lord knows us.

And so I included today one of the versions of it that I like by a band named Home Free, or I guess, well, they don't necessarily use instruments, but they certainly sound amazing, the way that I like to listen to music. I hope that you enjoy their version of it, and I hope that you come to a personal understanding yourself when you consider just how majestic the Lord is and how much he does across all time and all of the universe and yet still will take the time to answer your prayers individually, that the Savior can come and take the time through the Spirit to comfort you personally in your times of need. Quite a humbling moment to consider the love that the Lord has for each one of us.

Truly, how great the Lord is and truly how amazing it is that they, both Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, are mindful of me and of you. That's all for today, my friends. You and I have come here for such a time as this.
