3.206 As Long as He Sought the Lord

You can find this principle across philosophy and science, inside of personal development and psychology. You'll find it across spirituality and karma discussions all over the world. What is it I'm talking about?

I'm talking about the universal law of cause and effect. It's everywhere. Let's take a look at what it means for us in our study of 2 Chronicles this week.

We are reading 2 Chronicles 14 through 20, 26 and 30 as we have very selected stories here inside of our readings. And you know what? We were just talking about this as a family in our.

We just, we just are cheering for somebody in the Old Testament to make it, because so many of these stories, these guys start out strong and they have the spirit of the Lord, and then they fizzle out and die of some disease or some sad situation. So we just, we just cheering for him every time. We like, come on, you can make this!

I talked about that before, but thought I'd just share some of our family conversation. Today we're going to talk about Uzziah, who is unfortunately one of those that does the fizzle out thing. But, man, in the moments that he's good, he's so good.

So let's take one of those moments and reflect on it for our own lives. Our verse for today comes out of 2 Chronicles chapter 26, which is a chapter that focuses on Uzziah's reign. I hope I'm saying that correctly, by the way.

We're going to look at 2 Chronicles 26, verse 5, in the description of what he was like on the early days of his reign. And he sought God in the days of Zechariah, who had understanding in the visions of God. And as long as he sought the Lord, God made him to prosper.

Now, at the beginning of this episode, we were talking about the law of cause and effect. Did you catch the cause and effect here? "As long as..." then what? "As long as he sought the Lord, God made him to prosper." My friends, this is such a short and yet powerful verse inside of our study this week. How many different things can we focus on in our pursuits on a daily basis?

I know that my pursuits could change hour by hour, or even minute by minute, honestly, sometimes. As I just get caught up in the buzz of today, things are moving so rapid in our world in so many different ways. And it's so easy to just get washed up in that fast-flowing whitewater river.

And you're just like, "You know what? Just take me down the river." But here we have a beautiful law of cause and effect at play here. As long as he sought the Lord, God made him to prosper.

My friends, one of the examples that I've seen most evident here is inside of the focus that my daughter has as she enters into her mission. I mentioned that she's going to now be included in some of these stories because it's now part of our lives as she's serving from home here, and we now have a sister missionary in our house all the time. But seeing what she doing even in her experience here with Home MTC is quite impressive.

As she focuses and seeks the Lord, seeks to understand more about Him, seeks to study the characteristics of Jesus Christ, and what it means to develop those characteristics in our own lives. But I can already see her love, her study, her daily scripture study diving into the principles of the gospel, specifically into the characteristics of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. My friends, I hope that you and I can apply the law of cause and effect, more focused in terms of seeking the Lord, so that we can have the benefits, and the Lord help us to prosper in our lives.
