In this daily scripture reflection, Allen Roberds delves into Joshua 23:16, a powerful warning about the consequences of transgressing divine covenants and serving other gods. He explores how such choices can lead to quickly perishing from the 'good land' of God's blessings. Roberds encourages listeners to prioritize keeping their covenants and to make conscious choices to remain on a path that secures divine favor and spiritual well-being.

Key Points

  • Joshua 23:16 warns against breaking God's covenant and serving other gods, which results in the Lord's anger and removal from the promised land.
  • Allen Roberds interprets 'ye shall perish quickly from off the good land' as the loss of spiritual blessings and divine favor due to choices that lead away from keeping covenants.
  • The episode highlights the personal responsibility to choose whom to serve and the importance of diligently living and keeping one's spiritual commitments.
  • Listeners are encouraged to cultivate a greater desire to live their covenants, ensuring they continue to receive the spiritual blessings represented by the 'good land'.

I hope my friends that this one can stay in our mind as we go forward and give us a greater desire to live and keep our covenants... so that we can truly live off the good land that we've been blessed with rather than have it taken from us.

In Matthew 5, Jesus calls us the salt of the earth and the light of the world, reminding us that our lives are meant to preserve, illuminate, and point others to Him. This season on Savory Salt, we'll walk through the Old Testament, one verse and one thought each day. Perhaps these moments will add greater savor and brighter light to our lives as we seek to truly live as Savory Salt.

Hello, my friends. It's a new day with new opportunities. Choose ye this day whom you will serve.

We get to have the choice. We don't necessarily get to have the consequences. Let's take a look and see what we have here in our verse for today.

Joshua 23, verse 16, the end of this chapter here. "When ye have transgressed the covenant of the Lord your God, which he commanded you, and have gone and served other gods, And bowed yourselves to them. Then shall the anger of the Lord be kindled against you, and ye shall perish quickly from off the good land which he hath given unto you." Now, my friends, you know that I don't tend to go down the struggle side of things when it comes to messages here. I like to stay on the positive note on the things we can do, like build our faith and repent every day and be better.

I like those messages. The reason I chose this one today is the phrase at the end of this verse made me consider perhaps, I don't know, a different way of seeing it today's language. It says here, you shall perish quickly from off the good land which he hath given unto you.

My friends, as sad as it is to watch, I've seen friends throughout the years make choices to leave the church for various reasons. I could possibly go into this verse and say that they've gone and served other gods, so to speak. And as they made that choice, I've seen some of them get frustrated that they seem to lose the blessings of the Lord despite not continuing to keep their covenants.

This is the way I kind of see this last phrase here. They perish quickly from off the good land which he's given you. The Bible says that the Lord is the one who gives us the blessing of the covenant.

Thank you for watching. I hope my friends that this one can stay in our mind as we go forward and give us a greater desire to live and keep our covenants. A greater desire to help others live and keep their covenants as well so that we can truly live off the good land that we've been blessed with rather than have it taken from us.

That's all for today, my friends. You and I have come here for such a time as this. Step forward in faith and let's be savory salt. We will be here tomorrow and we hope you are too.
