In Matthew 5, Jesus calls us the salt of the earth and the light of the world, reminding us that our lives are meant to preserve, illuminate, and point others to Him. This season on Savory Salt, we'll walk through the Old Testament, one verse and one thought each day. Perhaps these moments will add greater savor and brighter light to our lives as we seek to truly live as savory salt.
Hello, my friends, it's a new day with new opportunities. Choose you this day whom you will serve. If you've ever experienced the feelings of not wanting to stand out in a crowd or perhaps the feelings of just wanting to fit in with everybody else so that nobody else notices you around, I hope to dispel some of those thoughts and feelings for you today.
My friends, we are having a hard time getting out of Numbers chapter 14 because we're going to go in there again. I know we've been there for several days this week and I know the readings has way more than Numbers 14 but there are some great, great verses inside of here. I appreciate Kyra sharing her thoughts yesterday and I've certainly been in the situation that she talked about in terms of Joshua and Caleb are such an interesting story to me because we have these two guys that just are willing to stand up to the crowd.
We'll be right back. We also get the Lord saying, but as for Caleb, let's take a look and see. Our verse for today is Numbers 14, verse 24.
It says, 'Where into he went and his seed shall possess it.' Man, I love that. Another spirit. That's an interesting phrase.
Right. And then we get. I like sometimes to use like these other translations to kind of get different perspectives on it.
Because what does that mean, "another spirit"? So I want to use the NIV version of the Bible here in Numbers 14, and it says this one: "But because my servant Caleb has a different spirit and follows me wholeheartedly, I will bring him into the land he went to and his descendants will inherit it." Now, did you hear those phrases in there? Another spirit, a different spirit.
My friends, Caleb has the full green light from the Lord to be different. In fact, it's because he was different that he gets to be able to go into the promised land. It's his different spirit.
And did you catch the second part? He follows me wholeheartedly. If your place is with the Lord and you are trying your best to follow Him wholeheartedly, He will have a place for you.
Don't worry about standing out. Don't worry about feeling or being different. Trust me, the Lord is looking for a different spirit, another spirit, a spirit who...
I know you've got it in you. I know we can do this together as we continue to build Zion. And I'm excited for the future for you and for me to be different from those around us.
That's all for today, my friends. You and I have come here for such a time as this. Step forward in faith and let's be savory salt. We will be here tomorrow and we hope you are too.
