In Matthew 5, Jesus calls us the salt of the earth and the light of the world, reminding us that our lives are meant to preserve, illuminate, and point others to Him. This season on Savory Salt, we'll walk through the Old Testament, one verse and one thought each day. Perhaps these moments will add greater savor and brighter light to our lives as we seek to truly live as Savory Salt.

Hello, my friends. It's a new day with new opportunities. Choose ye this day whom you will serve.

My friends, we've all been blessed with gifts of the Spirit. But have you ever considered what your gifts could do in direct relation to the beauty of the temples? That's the thought going through my mind as we dive into our verse for today.

We are reading inside of Exodus 19 through 34. There's varied chapters in here with Come Follow Me. But inside of it, it seems like we've got kind of this roller coaster happening with these children of Israel, right?

We've got making covenants with the Lord and then kind of immediately breaking some of those covenants as we go from like Ten Commandments to idol worship to repentance, to receiving the Ten Commandments on stone tablets. All of these pieces of the story. And then we move into the development of the tabernacle.

So, what happened so far the front end of Exodus is really about getting the people out of Egypt. But as we get into the back end of Exodus, as we are inside of here, especially this section here in next week, we're seeing that the Lord is now organizing his people based on this covenant relationship. A little bit of a reach with the connection, but I hope it works for each one of us as we're all trying to have our path of increasing our savor and light in the world.

Our verse for today is in Exodus chapter 31 and it's verse 3. And what's happening here is we're learning about this son of Uri, if I'm saying that correctly, who's going to be working on the tabernacle. And verse 3 says, "And I have filled him with the Spirit of God in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship." And then it continues to go on.

And the sentence keeps going; as always, keep reading the verses when the sentence doesn't end. But here we have an individual who's going to basically work on the tabernacle, on its building, on its furnishings, and make sure that it's going to be a good place to be. We're going to talk about the gift of the Spirit.

The gift of the Spirit is one of the most important things that we can do as a Church to make sure that it is done to the specifications that the Lord has set. Basically, He's going to create it as a beautiful and holy space for the Lord's Spirit to reside as they perform their covenants. My friends, this has got me thinking about each one of us being blessed with gifts of the Spirit.

We consider those gifts that we have as gifts being given to us from the Lord to help in the building of our tabernacles today. Whether it's our church buildings, whether it's our temples, whether it's our branches or holy places of worship. What does it look like for us to utilize our gifts of the Spirit to help beautify those locations?

Some of the things I thought about for me was: How do I dress when I attend these sacred places? How do I speak when I go into them? Who do I try to bring with me?

And when we are there, what is our relationship like inside of the temple as we worship together? I've mentioned before that one of my favorite things to do when I see people that perhaps I haven't seen after some time, one of my favorite phrases to use when I see them in the temple is, "It's so good to see you here." And I expressly emphasize the word here because I love bumping into people inside the temple as we join together to worship the Lord. My friends, I hope you take an opportunity, one, to remember the gifts of the Spirit that you've been blessed with in your life.

And then two, consider the ways that your gifts of the Spirit could be taken to beautify and to help the temples and the holy places. That's all for today, my friends. You and I have come here for such a time as this.

Step forward in faith and let's be savory salt. We will be here tomorrow and we hope
