In Matthew 5, Jesus calls us the salt of the earth and the light of the world, reminding us that our lives are meant to preserve, illuminate, and point others to him. This season on Savory Salt, we'll walk through the Old Testament, one verse and one thought each day. Perhaps these moments will add greater savor and brighter light to our lives as we seek to truly live as Savory Salt.

Hello, my friends! It's a new day with new opportunities. Choose ye this day whom ye will serve.

It's me again, and I'm so excited to be here with all of you. This week's reading is some of my favorite, and I have a thought in here that I hope will help uplift your day today. We are reading this week Exodus 14 through 18, and so far we have only spent time in Exodus 14.

So now we are going to go a little bit farther to 15. Woohoo! But first, we do need to establish what happens at the end of chapter 14.

So at the end of chapter 14, we get the parting of the Red Sea, which is like the greatest thing that Moses is known for. It's been made into movies. A lot of people know it, even if they don't know the scriptures.

It's a very famous moment. So the Red Sea parts, and it's this super cool thing. Like, imagine looking out across like a super long lake, or I guess if you have been to the Red Sea, what that looks like, or an ocean, or a lake, or a river that you've seen.

Imagine that. We are going to go into that right now. It's Exodus 15, verse 2.

It says, "The Lord is my strength and song. He has become my salvation. He is my God, and I will prepare him an habitation; My Father God, and I will exalt him." My friends, this is amazing!

He is our strength! But it's that second part right there that we're going to talk about today. He is our song.

So they are singing a song to him through most of chapter 15. So I want you to think right now about a time that's happened in your life where you've had some struggles and you know that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ have been there with you or have helped you through that. And if you want, you don't have to, but I would highly recommend it, write a song about it.

Or it doesn't necessarily have to be a song. It can be a poem. It doesn't even have to be a poem.

You can just write down your experience and praise the Lord, but I want you to write down how he helped you and to praise him for it. If he were in front of you, how would you thank him? How would you express your gratitude to him in this moment?

Write it down. You can put a song to it if you want, but share it. It's an amazing thing!

You write down what you're feeling, and you just feel so good, and you can tell that he hears you and he knows that you are truly grateful, and it is a really cool experience, and I invite you all to do that at some time, whether it's today or tomorrow, or next week, or maybe in a month, but please do it! I assure you that it is worth it, and it truly does strengthen your faith. I am so grateful for my Lord and Savior who helps me through all of my challenges and trials.

And I'm so thankful that he has given me so many things, and I want to praise him forever and ever. That is my testimony to you today. That's all for today, my friends.

You and I have come here for such a time as this. Step forward in faith, and let's be Savory Salt. We will be here tomorrow. We hope you are too.
