In Matthew 5, Jesus calls us the salt of the earth and the light of the world, reminding us that our lives are meant to preserve, illuminate, and point others to Him. This season on Savory Salt, we'll walk through the Old Testament, one verse and one thought each day. Perhaps these moments will add greater savor and brighter light to our lives as we seek to truly live as savory salt.

Hello, my friends, it's a new day with new opportunities. Choose ye this day whom you will serve. Activity for today, activity for today.

Yes, I'm talking to every one of you. You've got an activity to accomplish by the end of today. And yes, I am talking to you to do this activity.

My friends, we are reading Exodus chapters 14 through 18 this week. And we're not going to get very far from yesterday's verse. In fact, we're going to follow it up with the very next verse.

As the children of Israel are worried and fearful, they're thinking that their lives as slaves would be better than their lives in the future with the Lord. And the response from Moses is spot on. And it's something we each should hear.

And then comes the next verse. This is our activity for the day. Exodus 14, verse 13, says this: "And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will show to you today.

For the Egyptians whom you have seen today, ye shall see them again no more forever." Makes me think of The Sandlot there. Forever. Right?

Moses is turning to the people in their fear, their struggle, their lack of faith, and he says, "Fear not, stand still and see the salvation of the Lord." Now, my friends, I've got an activity for you to think into today. I want you to think of times in your life where you have experienced. You can put them in your phone.

You can put them on a piece of paper. You can put them in your journal or diary. You can type them up and send yourself an email.

Put them wherever you want, but record them. You can even turn on a memo or a voice memo or something and speak them out loud. Get a recording of them.

Second, I want you to consider which ones you need to share. Share them with your loved ones. Share them with whoever the Spirit prompts you to share them with.

Perhaps small ones, perhaps large ones. I don't want you to cross any lines if you don't feel that you have certain ones you should share. But, my friends, I think as Moses has encouraged the children of Israel here during their down time, I think you and I could be encouraged in our own down times.

Experience the light by your neighbor neighbor's perspective on what you can do in life through example. Let's begin. One of them was the miracle of electricity in her home as she had grown up in a home without it and had grown up doing her studies and schoolwork with kerosene lamps.

To her, electricity was a miracle from the Lord. A second one was similar to her life circumstances growing up as she had grown up with an outhouse in the backyard rather than indoor plumbing. And so seeing a building with indoor plumbing was a miracle to her in her life.

Those seem like perhaps just technological advances to general public, but for her, she saw the hand of the Lord in her life. My friends, if you and I will take the opportunity to look into the hand of the Lord, in some point in the future, know what it done for you in your own life. I am grateful for the times in my life when I have experienced the hand of the Lord.

Sometimes it's come through the help of others. Sometimes it's come through personal experiences. Sometimes it's come through very strong promptings of the Spirit from our Heavenly Father.

But they have come. I know they are real. I try to take an opportunity as often as I can to share them with my family.

And I hope that you take that opportunity today to record and to share the hand of the Lord in your life, that you may be able to stand at some point and say, "I fear not. I have stood still and seen the salvation of the Lord." That's all for today, my friends. You and I have come here for such a time as this.

Step forward in faith and let's be savory salt. We will be here tomorrow and we hope you are too.
