In Matthew 5, Jesus calls us the salt of the earth and the light of the world, reminding us that our lives are meant to preserve, illuminate, and point others to him. This season on Savory Salt, we'll walk through the Old Testament, one verse and one thought each day. Perhaps these moments will add greater savor and brighter light to our lives as we seek to truly live as Savory Salt.
Hello, my friends! It's a new day with new opportunities. Choose ye this day whom you will serve.
Yes! I'm back! Woohoo!
So I came and I was like, yes, Moses 7. There's a verse in here I really like. And so I wanted to share it with you today.
Yes, the only reading for this week is Moses chapter 7. So one chapter and then, spoiler alert, the next few weeks will be like, oh no, now we have a hundred chapters. What are we gonna do?
Don't worry, we'll get through it one verse at a time. We can do this. So the verse I chose today is Moses chapter 7 verse 4, and we're gonna get right into it.
It says, "And I saw the Lord, and he stood before my face, and he talked with me, even as a man talketh one with another, face to face; and he said unto me: Look, and I will show unto thee the world for the space of many generations." So the reason I loved this verse is because of the phrase face to face. It is a thing that I feel like is getting less and less common because of modern technology, and you know, we don't need to be face to face. We can just pick up the phone and take a call.
But it is different when we are face to face. Like when you hear a recording or read a letter or an email, it's different than when you are with someone and talking with them face to face. And I know it is a little ironic I am talking to you on a recording right now, but I wish I could talk to you all about this face to face.
So, bear with me here. A few key things that I noticed about being face-to-face versus just technology or letters and stuff is the connection you have. You really can get connection with someone when you are face with them.
You can really see their emotions and their expressions of how they respond when you talk to them, and you can truly see that they are listening to you and you are listening to them. They can see that, and it's instant. It's not like Marco Polo or something where I need a moment to handle this reaction and then I do the video.
It's like you can see their instant reaction, and you can just get a different understanding with the person you're talking to when you have them face to face. And so that got me thinking of a story that I have. It was girls camp a few years ago, and we were combined with a few other wards because all of our wards were so small.
So there was this girl, she didn't really like participating in the activities, and she preferred to be alone. So most of the time she just stayed in the cabin. So one day I walked in the cabin.
I think it was just me and her in there, and I saw her drawing on a table we had in there. I love watching people draw and like seeing the things they draw. So I went over and I was like, "Man, you are a good artist!" And she was like, "Oh, thank you." And then, like after that, I found out she liked making stories, and I like making stories.
And then it was just like best friends forever. And I don't think that could have happened unless it was a good thing. It was face to face.
It is just very different when it is face. So think about that with God. Some of you might be like, "Oh, it's God, well, He is never gonna talk to me face-to-face." But He can.
He really can. It's amazing. He has given us the Spirit so He can talk to us.
I know we all can do it, and I do have a testimony that we can hear his voice, and when we see him really face to face, we will know that this is our Lord and Savior. I'm so thankful for that. Enoch is a great story, and I love his story so much.
That's all for today, my friends. You and I have come here for such a time as this. Step forward in faith and let's be savory salt. We'll be here tomorrow, and we hope you are too.
