In Matthew 5, Jesus calls us the salt of the earth and the light of the world, reminding us that our lives are meant to preserve, illuminate, and point others to Him. This season on Savory Salt, we'll walk through the Old Testament, one verse and one thought each day. Perhaps these moments will add greater savor and brighter light to our lives as we seek to truly live as Savory Salt.
Hello my friends. It's a new day with new opportunities. Choose you this day whom you will serve.
It's a short one today because a challenge is around the corner. It's been a while since we did a challenge and I thought, you know what? We need a challenge.
We're reading this week Genesis chapter 5 as well as Moses chapter 6 and we are going to go a little bit out of order in terms of the verses. I kind of warned you that. We're going to jump backwards again and take a look at another part of the story.
The reason we're going to leap ahead is because this verse just shouted at me, basically, as we were reading it, especially as we understand the concept that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints today is the same Church of Jesus Christ that Jesus Christ founded and established in His day. Let's get to the verse and then let's get to the challenge. Our verse today is Moses 6, verse 52.
See if you haven't heard something like this in your more modern scripture study. 52 says this, And he also said unto him, If thou wilt turn unto me, and hearken unto my voice, and believe, and repent of all thy transgressions, the only name which shall be given under heaven whereby salvation shall come unto the children of men. Ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost, asking all things in his name; and whatsoever ye shall ask, it shall be given you. My friends, this is during Enoch's day.
This is the middle of an incredible testimony from Enoch. You need to read all of the verses here as he gets fired up and gets preaching to the people of his day. But did you recognize that this is almost like a Book of Mormon verse here, the way it testifies of Jesus Christ?
And that is actually the bridge into our challenge for today. Your challenge is to do this. I want you to find in any scriptures, Old Testament, New Testament, Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, Pearl of Great Price.
My friends, your spiritual receptors in life will be amplified as you continue to dive into the gospel of Jesus Christ. Know where these verses are throughout scripture. Tie them together, link them up in your digital scriptures.
And you will remember and know that the gospel of Jesus Christ is found anytime prophets have been on the earth. I am grateful for that testimony. Good luck in your challenge.
That's all for today, my friends. You and I have come here for such a time as this. Step forward in faith and let's be savory salt. We'll be here tomorrow and we hope you are too.
