Join Allen Roberds as he delves into Moses 6 and Genesis 5, exploring the profound invitation to "Walk with me" extended to Enoch and us today. This episode differentiates walking *with* the Lord from merely following Him, drawing insights from Elder Bednar's teachings on what it truly means to abide in Christ.

Key Points

  • Discover the unique invitation "Walk with me" from Moses 6, contrasting it with the familiar "Come, follow me" from the New Testament.
  • Gain a deeper understanding of what it means to "abide in Christ," drawing on insights from Elder Bednar and Elder Jeffrey R. Holland, signifying a permanent and steadfast devotion.
  • Reflect on the powerful promises associated with walking with the Lord, including mountains fleeing and rivers turning from their course.
  • Understand that abiding in Christ requires being firm and steadfast in our devotion to the Redeemer through all circumstances.
  • Be encouraged to accept the Lord's personal invitation to walk side-by-side with Him, fostering faith that leads to miracles and opportunities to share His light.

Friends, listen to the invitation from the Lord. Yes, He is asking us to follow Him, but He's also promising us and asking us—let's take the Lord up on that offer and walk side by side—and let's watch those mountains move and the rivers change courses because that's what's in store for those that have faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

In Matthew 5, Jesus calls us the salt of the earth and the light of the world, reminding us that our lives are meant to preserve, illuminate, and point others to Him. This season on Savory Salt, we'll walk through the Old Testament, one verse and one thought each day. Perhaps these moments will add greater savor and brighter light to our lives as we seek to truly live as Savory Salt.

Hello, my friends, it's a new day with new opportunities. Choose you this day whom you will serve. Today, let's take a look at the secret sauce behind the Lord's invitation to Enoch and how we could possibly use some of that secret sauce in our lives as well.

We're reading this week Genesis chapter 5 and Moses chapter 6, and inside of it, we're really taking a deep dive into Enoch's life and who he became because we just don't get that picture inside of Genesis chapter 5. So, as we take a look in Moses chapter 6, we're going to see an invitation from the Lord here in a way that is really quite different from even his New Testament invitations with his disciples. This one's an interesting timing.

I don't think I've done this with the other two seasons in Savory Salt, but this is actually for the year that this is being recorded here, 2026. This is actually the youth theme, this verse. And while the youth theme is primarily around the phrase at the very end, "Walk with me," I hope that you spend some time looking into the full promises inside of this verse.

We're talking about mountains fleeing before you and rivers turning from their course. This is not a small promise from the Lord. But what it is here is an interesting twist in the invitation.

Did you notice that in the New Testament it's super common for the Lord to say, "Come, follow me," when he's inviting the disciples and others to follow him and walk in his footsteps? This is a different invitation, and it's one the Lord extends to us as well: "Walk with me." Now, what does that mean? What does it mean to abide in the Lord and the Lord abide in us?

Elder Bednar gave an awesome talk specifically about this. In fact, I put the link inside of it, called "Abide in Me and I in You; Therefore, Walk with Me." It literally called from this verse. And in it, he says this: "The word abide denotes remaining fixed or stable and enduring without yielding." Elder Jeffrey R.

Holland explained that abiding as an action means to stay, but to stay forever. "That is the call of the Gospel message to everyone in the world. Come, but come to remain. Come with conviction and endurance.

Come permanently for your sake and the sake of all the generations who must follow you." Thus, we abide in Christ as we're firm and steadfast in our devotion to the Redeemer and His holy purposes in times both good and bad. That's only a short section of that one, such a powerful talk. But I also wanted to share just a small story on my side of things as well from experiences that I've had.

I had a time in my life, I've talked about it before, where my choices were not going to lead me down the choices of living in the gospel. And my best friend, who had been my best friend for years, took it upon himself to gather some friends that were a support group. And his invitations for me were not to go to church.

He wasn't saying, "Hey, Allen, I think you should go to church more." Friends, listen to the invitation from the Lord. Yes, He is asking us to follow Him, but He's also promising us and asking us—let's take the Lord up on that offer and walk side by side—and let's watch those mountains move and the rivers change courses because that's what's in store for those that have faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. He will work miracles to our advantage, and He'll do it to encourage us to share His light with more and more and more that we come in contact with.

I'm grateful to the Lord and I'm grateful that He's willing to invite me to walk with Him. I certainly hope I'm able to make that promise and walk with Him in my life as well. That's all for today, my friends.

You and I have come here for such a time as this. Step forward in faith and let's be savory salt. We'll be here tomorrow and we hope you are too.
