Key Points
- Alma 30:44 proclaims that the earth, its motion, and all planets moving in regular form serve as powerful witnesses to a Supreme Creator.
- The episode highlights how scientific research, such as the uniform cosmic microwave background radiation, can point towards intelligent design in the universe.
- Allen Roberds shares the fascinating journey of astrophysicist Dr. Hugh Ross, who moved from atheism to belief in a Creator through his scientific study of the cosmos.
- Listeners are encouraged to observe the natural world around them to find and strengthen their personal testimonies of a Supreme Creator and Heavenly Father.
My friends, you and I have an opportunity to observe the world around us and find our testimonies that there truly is a Supreme Creator, that he is our Heavenly Father, and that he does work all things for us, for our good as we seek to follow him.

In Matthew 5, Jesus calls us the salt of the earth and the light of the world, reminding us that our lives are meant to preserve, illuminate, and point others to Him. This season on Savory Salt, we'll walk through the Old Testament, one verse and one thought each day. Perhaps these moments will add greater savor and brighter light to our lives as we seek to truly live as savory salt.
Hello, my friends. It's a new day with new opportunities. Choose this day whom you will serve.
I love the intro music we selected for this season's podcast. It just gets me all excited and smiling. Today, I'm going to make an attempt to try and talk about something that is way out of my league, but it's so cool and builds my testimony.
So I absolutely want to share it. We're reading I'm reading this week Genesis 1 and 2, Moses 2 and 3, Abraham 4 and 5. And today we're going to jump over to the Book of Mormon.
As I mentioned at the beginning of the season, we're going to occasionally throw in some And as I was reading the creation over and over and over again with these Genesis, Moses And Alma is going to tell him that he believes all things testify that there is a God. And that's the verse for today in Alma chapter 30, verse 44. Let's read it.
And then let's see if I can stay within my bounds of something that's really outside of my bounds when it comes to intellectual faculties. But we're going to try this. Okay.
Verse 44 says this: But Alma said unto him, Thou hast had signs enough; Will ye tempt your God? Will ye say, Show unto me a sign, when ye have the testimony of all these thy brethren, and also all the holy prophets? The scriptures are laid before thee, yea, and all things denote there is a God; yea, even the earth and all things that are upon the face of it, yea, and its motion, yea, and also all the planets which move in their regular form do witness that there is a Supreme Creator.
Now this verse stuck in my mind because Alma's trying to say, look, not only do we have living testimonies of those around us that testify of Christ and holy prophets, but we also have the scriptures. And then if the scriptures aren't enough, just take a look around. Everything that's happening on earth, everything in its motion, everything in the planets around the earth, all witness that there's a Supreme Creator.
And this one, this one got me thinking. I was like, where have I heard an interview like this? And so I tried to kind of do some research.
I heard an interview with a Dr. Hugh Ross, and he's written some books. Full disclosure, I have not read the books, but I've looked in and listened to some of his interviews that he's done.
And he grew up pretty much atheist, not believing in any sort of supreme being, any sort of God, and went into science. And the more he studied science and specifically the more he studied outer space and its characteristics, the more he came to the realization that the chances of not having a creator that organizes There's this reference to what's called the cosmic microwave background radiation. CMB is what it is.
And it's kind of this microwave, it's like this radiation that goes across all the observable universe. And it measures in at 2 Kelvin, which is what is it, like negative 270 degrees Celsius? Basically three degrees above absolute zero.
Are you seeing how this is getting out of my league really fast here? Anyway, here's the fascinating thing: This temperature that is uniform across the universe, if it were to fluctuate either direction, even in tiny degrees, partial degree changes, the entire universe would not be able to. The Bible says that the Lord is able to allow any planets that would be habitable.
Stars would collapse, suns would collapse, earths that have the ability to have life on them would cease to exist. And this is just one of those examples from Dr. Hugh Ross.
My friends, I love that he didn't seek to go prove God. He observed the world around him, and he found the testimony of a Supreme Creator. My friends, you and I have an opportunity to observe the world around us and find our testimonies that there truly is a Supreme Creator, that he is our Heavenly Father, and that he does work all things for us, for our good as we seek to follow him.
That is an empowering thought indeed. That's all for today, my friends. You and I have come here for such a time as this.
Step forward in faith and let's be savory salt. We'll be here tomorrow, and we hope you are too.
