In Matthew 5:13, Jesus calls us the salt of the earth, a bold reminder that our lives are meant to carry his flavor, his truth, and his love to the world. Join me each day to explore one verse of scripture and one thought, striving to stay full of savor and truly live as savory salt. Hello my friends, it's great to have you with me.

Today let's be anxiously engaged in a good cause and bring to pass much righteousness. I hope today is an episode that you can come back to time and time again. I hope it's one that you can pass off to friends and family and give them an opportunity to come back to time and time again.

We're reading this week Doctrine and Covenants sections 137 and 138 as well as Ether chapter 1. I almost did one more verse in 137 until I realized that it's going to make 138 get cut so short. So we're going to actually dive into Doctrine and Covenants section 138.

And today's message is going to be quite short because we're going to try something new we've never done before, savory salt. If you're driving, you might need to come back to this one later, but that's okay. You can do that on your own time if you choose to do so.

Our verse for today is Doctrine and Covenants section 138, verse 1. Now, 138 is interesting in that this is President Joseph F. Smith, not Joseph Smith.

This is also October of 1918, the only section here in the Doctrine and Covenants to formally be a section and to be given in the 20th century. In verse 1, it starts out this way. On the 3rd of October in the year 1918, I sat in my room pondering over the scriptures.

Now what's going to unfold from that moment is a vision to President Smith of the afterlife. What will be the rest of this episode? Give yourself some time to ponder.

I hope the music is one that you can come back to and use anytime you like. It will be just over two minutes of pondering, but I wanted to give that time to you today so that you and I can also see what it's like to ponder, meditate, and pray over the scriptures in our own lives. That's all for today, my friends.

Lift up your hearts and rejoice. Cleave to the covenants you have made and together we will be savory salt. Enjoy the music.
