In Matthew 5:13, Jesus calls us the salt of the earth, a bold reminder that our lives are meant to carry his flavor, his truth, and his love to the world. Join me each day to explore one verse of scripture and one thought, striving to stay full of savor and truly live as savory salt. Hello, my friends.

It's great to have you with me. Today, let's be anxiously engaged in a good cause and bring to pass much righteousness. What is the best possible news you could think to deliver to your family and friends?

It might just be the news we get today. We're reading this week Doctrine and Covenants sections 137 through 138 as well as Ether chapters 3 through 7. Doctrine and Covenants sections 137 and 138 are quite fascinating.

While doctrinally they align quite closely, they're really quite separate in terms of historical timing, right? They, I think it—I don't know—80ish years apart. Different prophets are recording these scriptures.

And really, it's the kind of the final closing to the modern-day Doctrine and Covenants that we have, as 138 is the final section that's been added, at least to date of this recording. Both of them revolve around the question of life after death. And it's a question—this is an age-old question, right?

This has been something that's been debated about, and philosophers have reflected into this for thousands of years, for millennia. And here we have the gospel of Jesus Christ answering some of the most pivotal questions that man could pose when it comes to an afterlife or the afterlife. When we dive into Doctrine and Covenants section 137, we get this personal insight as Joseph Smith is reflecting on his family.

He, wondering about in his time, one of the clearest ways possible, our perspective of the afterlife and our perspective of the temple work that we do for baptisms and other work for the dead, is perhaps the most forgiving and most open salvation for the world of any religious doctrine on Earth. I love how open and inviting the gospel of Jesus Christ is. It is not a gospel of condemnation.

It is not a gospel for the minority. Our Heavenly Father designed a plan that would save the vast majority of His children here on Earth. And that plan, we have this insight here that lets us know that regardless of the time of history that you live on the Earth, whether the Church of Jesus Christ is alive on the Earth or not during your time, you will have an opportunity to accept this gospel.

I love this message. This is a message of love. It is a message of hope.

It is a message that we keep sharing the gospel with our loved ones, with our neighbors, with our family members who maybe just don't get it right now. Maybe they just don't feel the Spirit right now. But the Lord is saying, "Look, everyone gets an opportunity.

Everyone has a chance." My friends, I'm grateful to the Lord, our Heavenly Father, for loving us so much that He would provide an opportunity for all of us to accept Jesus Christ as our Savior and to have the blessings of that acceptance in our lives for eternity. That's all for today, my friends. Lift up your hearts and rejoice. Cleave into the covenants you have made and together we will be savory salt.
