In Matthew 5:13, Jesus calls us the salt of the earth, a bold reminder that our lives are meant to carry his flavor, his truth, and his love to the world. Join me each day to explore one verse of scripture and one thought, striving to stay full of savor and truly live as savory salt. Hello, my friends, it is great to have you with me.

Today, let's be anxiously engaged in a good cause and bring to pass much righteousness. Do you remember the law of attraction? Let's talk a little more about it today.

We're reading this week Doctrine and Covenants section 88, I love it, and Alma chapters 48 through 52, which are also power chapters when it comes to Captain Moroni and the work that he does to protect his people. We're going to come back into Doctrine and Covenants section 88 after doing a quick little verse yesterday inside of the Book of Mormon. Our verse for today is going to re or perhaps shed a little bit of light a little bit differently on the law of attraction.

And it also happens to be a wonderful commandment given to us by the Lord. Our verse for today is Doctrine and Covenants section 88, verse 63. It is a continuation of a sentence, and in verse 62, one of my favorite things to see the Lord say in there is the term 'my friends'.

I love that. I love that the Lord calls. And then he tells us in 62 that we should ponder the commandment that he's going to give.

So 63 is a ponder verse. Whatever you have today, take some time to think into it. And then we get to verse 63 and it says this.

Now the interesting thing that stood out to me on that one in terms of the law of attraction is that we typically label this a promise from the Lord. But if I read it correctly, this isn't a promise. Verse 62 tells us that this is a commandment: 'Draw near to the Lord and he will draw near unto you.

Seek him diligently and you find him. Ask and you'll receive. Knock and it shall be opened unto you.' My friends, I think we underutilize the power of this verse.

I see people nowadays that say that they're done with the church because of different reasons. And their reasons really have nothing to do with whether or not they have worked to draw near unto the Lord, whether or not they've sought him diligently. They seem to get caught up on the minutiae.

I don't know the right word to use, but they pick a reason. And their reason usually never has anything to do with whether Jesus Christ is their savior. And in verse 63, we see a commandment here worth pondering: to draw near unto me and I will draw near unto you.

My friends, I can testify as if I was sitting in a court of law that this is real. When we seek Jesus Christ, we will find Him. When we knock and ask, we will receive.

Now sometimes it takes time. Sometimes it takes a long time, but it comes, and the Lord will come to us as we come to Him. I am so grateful for the opportunity in this church to make and keep covenants with the Lord.

Because as I do so, I feel myself drawing closer to Him. And I feel Him drawing closer to me. I hope that you and I take an opportunity to ponder in our hearts, very similar to Moroni.

I know the results, and I hope you can find them as well in your own life. That's all for today, my friends. Lift up your hearts and rejoice.

Cleave unto the covenants you have made, and together we will be savory salt. For more information, visit us at www.fema.org.
