In Matthew 5:13, Jesus calls us the salt of the earth, a bold reminder that our lives are meant to carry his flavor, his truth, and his love to the world. Join me each day to explore one verse of scripture and one thought, striving to stay full of savor and truly live as savory salt. Hello my friends, it's great to have you with me.

Today let's be anxiously engaged in a good cause and bring to pass much righteousness. We're going to continue inside of our readings this week with Doctrine and Covenants sections 77 and 80 as well as Alma chapters 29-33. I've got just a couple more that I wanted to share from these Doctrine and Covenants sections.

We're going to take a look in one more verse inside of Doctrine and Covenants sections 77 and 80. In verse 17, the Lord calls us little children and tells us that we don't quite understand the blessings that are in store for us. That's the front end.

You're a little child. You don't quite understand the blessings coming. Then we get verse 18.

It says, "And ye cannot bear all things now; nevertheless, be of good cheer, for I will lead you along. The kingdom is yours, and the blessings thereof are yours, and the riches of eternity are yours." Have you ever met that person that just sees the good in everything all the time? For me, someone that stands out for me from the past is President Gordon B.

Hinckley. I'm sure that there are conference talks where he's not overly optimistic, but all the conference talks I can think of from his time are literally kind of living out this idea to be of good cheer. He just saw the good things in life.

He saw the good things about the gospel. And I love the piece inside of here. You know, I'm a fan.

I've used "be of good cheer" before in other scripture verses. I love the phrase "to be of good cheer." It's a great reminder to me. I kind of naturally don't look like I smile.

My family's told me that if I'm just sitting there, it doesn't look like I'm smiling or I'm naturally happy. So I have to like consciously think to, like, I love this piece here: "to be of good cheer, for I will lead you along." The Lord knows where we're going, even in the times when we don't know where we're going. Here's an opportunity for us to lean into Him and realize that as the little children, and we are, as he references this, we don't quite grasp the whole thing.

And it's okay that we don't grasp the whole picture. Maybe we've got a few of the puzzle pieces together. Maybe our lives are still puzzle pieces floating around and we're like, what am I supposed to do with this puzzle piece?

But I love that the Lord encourages us to "be of good cheer, for I will lead you along." And the promises that come here are blessings beyond that which we understand. We can't even think about them. We can't even guess them because of the level of blessings there.

My friends, I am grateful that the Lord has reminded me regularly that this life is a life of cheer. Be of good cheer. Know that my trust is in the Lord.

And know that he will lead me along. That is something that I want to regularly keep in my life: a perspective of good cheer and joy, trusting that the Lord will lead me along. That's all for today, my friends.

Lift up your hearts and rejoice. Cleave unto the covenants you have made and together we will be savory salt.
