In Matthew 5.13, Jesus calls us the salt of the earth, a bold reminder that our lives are meant to carry his flavor, his truth, and his love to the world. Join me each day to explore one verse of scripture and one thought, striving to stay full of savor and truly live as savory salt. Hello, my friends.
Great to have you with me today. Let's be anxiously engaged in a good cause and bring to pass much righteousness. My friends, I got to tell you, I've got an activity for you this week.
And if you have friends or family members that listen to this podcast off and on, and you're listening to this one, please share this episode so that they have an opportunity to do this activity as well. Well, I'm going to do it. You're going to do it.
We're going to do this together. And we are going to love the week ahead of us. We're going to be reading Doctrine and Covenants section 45 this week, as well as Mosiah chapters 12 through 16.
Now I got to tell you the timing of this one is, it's providential. It's awesome. Doctrine and Covenants 45 is the Lord talking to Joseph and the Saints about their struggles.
He's going to give them a message with all of this chaos going on. There are false testimonies, there are false reports, there are all these stories happening all around them, and it's causing people to struggle in faith and be challenged. And then the Lord gives them this to the joy of the Saints.
This is such an amazing timing because in Mosiah 12 through 14, you're going to have basically the whole of Abinadi's story. And we know the outcome of Abinadi. He's going to be burned at the stake at the end of his preaching.
And so this timing of the challenges surrounding us, the difficulties we're facing, and yet the joy that we can have. Today, I've got a challenge for you and for me. Let's get to it and let's see what we can do together this week.
I am excited for it. Our verse for today and the challenge with it is Doctrine and Covenants section 45 verse 7. This is the Lord talking.
He is doing a long intro in this one and he says, "For verily I say unto you, that I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the light and the life of the world; a light that shineth in darkness and the darkness comprehendeth it not." You know I love light. At least if you've been listening to this podcast for a while, you also know that I have referred to several of the scriptures in Doctrine and Covenants where Christ refers to him as "the light that shineth in darkness and the darkness comprehendeth it not." This week, I don't want to be one that doesn't comprehend the light, and I don't want you to be one either. So our activity this week, if you choose to do it, is to get a piece of paper.
I don't care if it's in your journal that you write in. I don't even care if you don't write in a journal and you just have a piece of paper. I don't care if it's a Post-it note, a sticky note.
I don't care where it's from. I don't care if it's on your phone, in the notes tab. I don't care where you put it.
But my friends, here's what we're going to do. This week, as we go through these sections and chapters, we are going to comprehend the light. I want you to list every way, shape, and form that you see the light and life of the world, Jesus Christ, in your life this week.
I'm so excited for this one because I've already been sitting here thinking into this and meditating on this. My friends, Jesus Christ is real. He lives.
He is the beginning and the end. And I want you and I to understand the light and the life that he brings to the world. I hope you will take me up on this activity.
List all of the ways you see the light in your life. All of the ways you see the light in the world. Christ is here.
He is coming. Our prophet has told us to prepare, and this is an activity that I feel like will give. We're so excited for what the week brings as we dive into this activity.
That's all for today, my friends. Lift up your hearts and rejoice. Cleave unto the covenants you have made and together we will be savory salt.
