I'm going to keep preparing. I'm going to keep trimming my lamp. I'm going to keep burning that oil and keep oil with me as a backup because I want to be a part of the coming of the bridegroom.

In Matthew 5:13, Jesus calls us the salt of the earth, a bold reminder that our lives are meant to carry his flavor, his truth, and his love to the world. Join me each day to explore one verse of scripture and one thought, striving to stay full of savor and truly live as Savory Salt. Hello, my friends.
Great to have you with me. Today, let's be anxiously engaged in a good cause and bring to pass much righteousness. Welcome to day 99 of season 2, as we continue reading Doctrine and Covenants sections 30-36, as well as Jacob chapters 5-7 and the Book of Enos.
Lots of reading this week, but you and I can do this. That's right. Let's continue going on into Doctrine and Covenants.
We're going to skip Section 32. That is an invitation to go and preach to the Lamanites. It's kind of short there, but it's still worth diving into and seeing that call as the missionary work goes forward and continues to expand in the early Church days.
And then we get into Doctrine and Covenants 33, which is where our verse is going to be today. You know, it's kind of interesting, as I've been thinking about this, but a lot of these revelations are given to these members of the Church that are very, very new to the gospel. They're very new to the principles of the Church.
The Church is new to the principles of the Church. The Book of Mormon is like recently printed. Everybody's just kind of learning these things.
And yet, interesting to note inside of here, it's not going to be our verse for today. You'll note inside of here that the Lord says three consecutive verses, three times back to back: Open your mouths, open your mouths, open your mouths. There's like this message here of the Lord saying, "Hey, I don't care how much you know, when you felt the Spirit and you're converted and you're baptized, go and open your mouth." And then we get the tail end here.
And this is so insightful that I wanted to share it with you inside of our verse for today. Doctrine and Covenants, Section 33, Verse 17. It says, "Wherefore, be faithful, praying always, having your lamps trimmed and burning, and oil with you, that you may be ready at the coming of the bridegroom." Now, if you're not familiar with that, we haven't done a New Testament Savory Salt yet.
We haven't come around to that season. And yet, interestingly enough, if you look inside of this, that's definitely referencing the story found, or I guess the parable found, in Matthew chapter 25, verses 1 through 13. I'd encourage you to go back and read through that.
But as of the recording of this podcast, it's only been a few days since General Conference in April of 2025. And whenever it is you listen to this, I encourage you to go back to that conference and see how many times the lamps, the oil, the coming of the bridegroom was referenced inside that General Conference. My friends, our prophet, the apostles, the leaders of the Church, they're telling us, Doctrine and Covenants Section 33 is telling us the Lord is coming.
The Bible says, He's coming quickly. He's coming soon. Does that mean tomorrow?
I don't know, because no man knoweth. But what we're hearing from the prophet and the leadership of the Church is to be ready. Have your lamps ready.
Have your oil ready. What does it look like? It looks like being faithful, praying always.
There's counsel inside of Section 33 for us personally, as we consider what it's like to get a revelation from the Lord. Thank you for joining us. The Christian side of the gospel, right?
You're brand new to the gospel, and this is what the Lord's saying. He's saying, hey, open your mouth, go preach repentance, but remember repentance in your own life. Be faithful and pray always.
I love this reminder for all of us to keep our lamps trimmed and burning, and oil with us. My friends, you and I can do this. The Lord is coming.
May he come in my day. That would be so amazing and awesome. And yet I'm going to continue living as if I'll live an entire life and never experience that.
But I'm going to keep preparing. I'm going to keep trimming my lamp. I'm going to keep burning that oil and keep oil with me as a backup because I want to be a part of the coming of the bridegroom.
And I hope you do too. That's all for today, my friends. Lift up your hearts and rejoice. Cleave unto the covenants you have made, and together we will be Savory Salt.
