In Matthew 5:13, Jesus calls us the salt of the earth, a bold reminder that our lives are meant to carry his flavor, his truth, and his love to the world. Join me each day to explore one verse of scripture and one thought, striving to stay full of savor and truly live as savory salt. Hello, my friends.
Great to have you with me. Today, let's be anxiously engaged in a good cause and bring to pass much righteousness. My friends, I didn't get very far from yesterday.
I told you, I warned you that Doctrine and Covenants Section 29 had some amazing verses in it. You're going to have to keep your own self-pacing here because our verse for today is only a few verses away from our verse from yesterday. But that's okay because there is such amazing stuff in here.
I hope that you take your time to go through this. We're going to be looking at Doctrine and Covenants Section 29, verse 6 today. This is what it says.
It says, "And as it is written—Whatsoever ye shall ask in faith, being united in prayer, according to my command, ye shall receive." Now, what did you hear inside of that? I heard a term, 'whatsoever'. There's very little limitation on that.
I heard some qualifiers: ask in faith, being united in prayer, according to my command; ye shall receive. My friends, I can testify that as my family has come together, united in prayer, asking in faith, we have received. I can testify that as wards have come together, asking in faith, united in prayer, we have received.
I have seen it with my eyes. I have witnessed miracles according to the principle inside this verse. I want to share one, although I'll be careful; I did not ask his permission about this, so I won't use his name.
But I know he's a listener of this podcast, so he'll know who he is and some of you may know who he is as well. We have a dear brother in our ward, a former bishop, who was going through a heart transplant, and during the heart transplant suffered a severe stroke that nearly took his life. Was quite taxing on him, as you can imagine, and his recovery has been intense, to say the least—difficult, to say the least.
And yet to have him stand in Fast and Testimony Meeting this past week and to have him testify that he stood there by the priesthood power and the power of prayer united in faith in Jesus Christ was a miracle to behold. He walked to the stand when he had previously been paralyzed from the stroke and the severity of it. He is a walking miracle and a testament to all of us for those that follow the principles here to ask in faith, being united in prayer, open to receiving.
I have so much respect for him and his family. My family has been united in prayer for his and for him specifically. We love him.
We're grateful for him in our ward. And he is only one of the times that I have witnessed such miracles. My friends, don't be afraid to ask the Lord in faith.
Maybe it's a specific topic you're struggling with. Maybe it's something you truly need physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually. Whatever it may be, ask in the temple through temple prayer rolls.
We see it as a model in coming together, fasting and praying through monthly Fast and Testimony Meetings and Fast Sundays. It is a model that has been proven by the Lord to work miracles in our lives. He wants us to turn to Him.
And as we do so, united in prayer and faith, we can receive the blessings the Lord has in store for us. That I testify with all of my heart. That's all for today, my friends.
Lift up your hearts and rejoice. Please cleave unto the covenants you have made and together we will be savory salt. Thank you for watching.
