In Matthew 5:13, Jesus calls us the salt of the earth, a bold reminder that our lives are meant to carry his flavor, his truth, and his love to the world. Join me each day to explore one verse of scripture and one thought, striving to stay full of savor and truly live as savory salt. Hello, my friends.

Great to have you with me. Today, let's be anxiously engaged in a good cause and bring to pass much righteousness. The rise of the Church of Christ in these last days, being 1830 years since the coming of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in the flesh, it being regularly organized and established agreeable to the laws of our country, by the will and commandments of God, in the fourth month, and on the sixth day of the month which is called April.

Welcome my friends to our readings this week. I jumped straight into the verse for today in Doctrine and Covenants section 20. And I did that for a reason that you will see inside this episode.

Doctrine and Covenants sections 20, 21, and 22, as well as 2 Nephi chapters 19 through 23, will be our readings this week. Roughly a chapter or a section each day. Although I would advise you spend some extra time inside of Doctrine and Covenants section 20.

Why do we need a church? This is such a great question in today's world. There are so many that preach and teach that their spiritual wellness is based entirely upon their soul relationship with their God and they need no other outside influence.

Doctrine and Covenants section 20 would tell us otherwise. I don't usually do this inside of our readings, but I want to just touch base with what Doctrine and Covenants section 20 gives us. And the reason I want to do that is because there's no way we're going to pick verses that's going to cover all of these aspects.

Inside of Doctrine and Covenants section 20, we see that the Book of Mormon proves the divinity of the latter-day work. We learn the doctrines of Creation, Fall, that join themselves with the Church of Christ. We learn about blessing children.

We learn about baptism. We learn about the sacrament and the prayers and the regulations around that. Doctrine and Covenants section 20 gives us an incredible base to the organization of the Church of Christ.

I would encourage you this week as you dive in inside of Come Follow Me it suggests that you read a talk that is called "The Need for a Church" by President Dallin H. Oaks. I will make sure at some point this I would have you spend some time inside of that.

But my friends, the piece that I want to share with you today, as we've done our verse, the rise of the Church of Christ in these last days, is I want to testify what the Church of Jesus Christ has been for me. It has been a place of refuge in my life. It has been a place of learning for me to come to know my Savior Jesus Christ.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the true and restored Church of Jesus Christ on the earth today. That is something that puts a smile on my face. That's all for today my friends.

Lift up your hearts and rejoice. Cleave unto the covenants you have made and together we will be savory salt.
