2.40 Join the Marvelous Work and Be of Great Worth

In Matthew 5:13, Jesus calls us the salt of the earth, a bold reminder that our lives are meant to carry his flavor, his truth, and his love to the world. Join me each day to explore one verse of scripture and one thought, striving to stay full of savor and truly live as savory salt. Hello, my friends, great to have you with me.

Today, let's be anxiously engaged in a good cause and bring to pass much righteousness. Today, a message related to the introduction that we hear every day on Savory Salt. We are finishing up our week this week through Doctrine and Covenants Sections 6 through 9 and through 1st Nephi Chapters 18 through 22 as we wrap up 1st Nephi.

Congratulations on moving right along inside of the Book of Mormon while reading the Doctrine and Covenants as well. We actually get into some Isaiah chapters. It's been a while since we've been in the Isaiah chapters, my friends.

And then at the tail end here in 1st Nephi Chapter 22, Nephi actually is going to talk about some of those Isaiah chapters, and his brothers are going to say, "What do some of these things mean?" And that's what we're going to dive into. Our verse for today: I selected 1st Nephi Chapter 22, Verse 8. And Nephi is explaining to his brothers some of the things you read in Verse 21.

So if it seems a little bit repetitive, this is his explanation as he says it. He says, "And after our seed is scattered, the Lord God will proceed to do a marvelous work among the Gentiles, which shall be of great worth unto our seed." Wherefore, it is likened unto their being nourished by the Gentiles, and being carried in their arms and upon their shoulders. Now, first of all, I love kind of the imagery there that comes outside of it.

And obviously, this reference to the marvelous work, we've been inside of Doctrine and Covenants. We're going to hear a lot of the marvelous work that the Lord is putting forward here. But I love that this marvelous work that's going is of great worth unto our seed.

My friends, I testify of the worth to each of us that is the gospel of Jesus Christ. And I'm excited to be part of it, not just in a missionary sense, but to just be part of it as it continues to roll forward and the Restoration continues to go forward in all it's doing. One of my good friends and I sat down and we had lunch about a week ago or so.

And it's been a while since we like sat down and had a really good conversation, probably even a couple of years since we just really had a good conversation. And it's, it's interesting where our lives have gone because as we sat down, we both started talking about this marvelous work and both started talking about how, even though we're doing different things in our lives, we both have this intense desire to be part of the work. Inside of our prayers, we're taking time to ask the Lord to give us guidance and direction on being able to be that role player that he wants us to be.

And I just want to share that message with you today: that you and I are part of this marvelous work. You and I, when we step into the work, are performing work that is of great worth to the souls of others. We are nourishing others as we testify of Jesus Christ, as we shine His light through our lives.

And as such, we get to be those that kind of help others, carry others on our arms and our shoulders. I love that imagery and I'm grateful to be part of it. Today, my friends, join the marvelous work with me and be part of the great worth of the souls of those that we surround.
