In Matthew 5:13, Jesus calls us the salt of the earth, a bold reminder that our lives are meant to carry his flavor, his truth, and his love to the world. Join me each day to explore one verse of scripture and one thought, striving to stay full of savor and truly live as savory salt. Hello, my friends.

Great to have you with me. Today, let's be anxiously engaged in a good cause and bring to pass much righteousness. Welcome to our 400th episode of Savory Salt.

Congratulations on your path, whether you've joined me for one of those or all 400 of those. I don't know how many of you are out there actually that have hit all 400, but well done either way for jumping into this. I'm kind of celebrating this one because that means it's been not just a year of Savory Salt but over a year.

And that's exciting for me. I do have to give a shout out to some of my old MTC buddies. We don't all live in the same states anymore, and yet we have a text thread that's going through.

And a couple of my MTC buddies, you know who you are, they gave me a shout out last week for my birthday. And then they said, 'Hey, by the way, I haven't missed an episode yet!' And so, well done on that path. And those of you that have jumped in recently, welcome!

I hope you're enjoying the path of Savory Salt. Let's celebrate 400 together. This week you're going to be reading Doctrine and Covenants sections 6–9 as well as 1 Nephi 18–22.

If you're doing this side by side, like we're doing in season 2 here of Savory Salt. Our verse for today comes inside of Doctrine and Covenants section 6. And really, I don't know if I meant this to happen, or if it's intended by the way that Come Follow Me is designed, or whatever it may be, but this week I kind of just have a theme of gifts a little bit.

And so we're going to look at this through the lens of gifts. Last week we kind of focused on Joseph and Martin Harris quite a bit. This week is going to be Joseph and Oliver Cowdery as Oliver comes into Joseph's life and really becomes the primary scribe of the Book of Mormon through all the way through its final translation.

And so Oliver is going to play a very, very intimate role inside of that translation process. He's going to write pretty much the Book of Mormon by hand through this process. He has some questions for the Lord, and that's really what several of the sections we're going to look at today.

And I love it. There are a lot of verses inside here. I was trying to pick and choose, but this one kind of spoke to me, and I hope it speaks to you as well.

It says this: "Behold, thou hast a gift, and blessed art thou because of thy gift. Remember, it is sacred, and cometh from above." Now you'll notice there that that's only part of the sentence, so you'll want to keep reading there. But I love this reminder from the Lord.

We're told in several places in Scripture that all of us have spiritual gifts. And this is no different. And remember, it's sacred and cometh from above.

My friends, I've got an activity for you today. When's the last time you sat down and thought about the gifts that Heavenly Father has given to you? What are some of your gifts?

If you can't seem to come up with any at all, perhaps you should take some time to talk to your friends or family members. And it is great for us to remember how sacred they are and that they come from our Father in Heaven. He has blessed us all individually with specific gifts for our lives.

I know that there are times where I've had people tell me—I think I mentioned this just recently, maybe a week or two ago—I've had people tell me specifically things that I just kind of feel like are part of my life. We have a gift in that area, and it's great to hear, but it's also great to pause and be grateful to Heavenly Father for giving me that gift. My friends, your activity today: take some time and record some of your gifts from Heavenly Father and how you use them to bless the lives of others.

And then take a moment to thank your Heavenly Father for having those gifts. That's all for today, my friends. Lift up your hearts and rejoice.

Cleave unto the covenants you have made, and together we will be savory salt. For more information visit www.savorysalt.org
