Show Notes

Join Allen Roberds as he delves into Ether 3:23-28 and Ether 4:1-11, exploring the profound faith of the Brother of Jared and the extraordinary divine revelations he received. This episode highlights the promise in Ether 4:7 that by exercising similar faith, we too can become sanctified and have all of God's revelations unfolded to us. Discover how to cultivate a 'fighting faith' for personal spiritual manifestations.

Key Points

  • The Brother of Jared's exceptional faith led him to receive greater divine revelations than had ever been manifested before.
  • Ether 4:7 promises that those who exercise faith akin to the Brother of Jared will be sanctified and shown all of God's revelations.
  • The Brother of Jared demonstrated faith by preventing language confusion, building barges, and seeing the Lord one-on-one.
  • Listeners are encouraged to develop this 'fighting faith' to experience their own personal spiritual manifestations and deeper understanding from the Lord.

I want to develop that faith so that I can have my one-on-one experiences with the Lord and allow the Lord to reveal unto me all the things that he would have me to know and to understand. That is a faith worth fighting for.

In Matthew 5:13, Jesus tells his followers that they are the salt of the earth, and in the same sentence offers a warning that savorless salt is good for nothing. Join me in an attempt to be savory salt as I share each day one verse of scripture and one small thought. Perhaps this small daily emphasis can lead to greater savor in your life and ultimately you and I can be savory salt.

Hello, my friends and family, wherever you're listening from. Thank you for joining me and know that I'm cheering for your every success. Do you want to see more from the Lord?

Welcome to day 341 on our 365-day journey through the Book of Mormon together. Today, you're going to be reading Ether chapter 3, verses 23 to 28. You'll finish those last few verses there and begin Ether chapter 4.

And inside of this, you're going to find out that the Brother of Jared saw and had the Lord manifest unto him greater revelations than had been manifest ever. And that probably a lot of revealing. We find out that the Brother of Jared sees everything and all the Lord has to show because of the faith that he has there.

And then we get a little glimpse of our day and the possibility that we have to have those same type of manifestations. Let's take a look at our verse for today and see if we can find out what it takes for us to be in that same conversation between the Lord that the Brother of Jared was in. Our verse for today comes from Ether 4, verse 7.

And it's talking about a day in the future here—that day, some point out here. It says, "And in that day that they shall exercise faith in me, saith the Lord, even as the Brother of Jared did, that they may become sanctified in me. Then will I manifest unto them the things which the Brother of Jared saw, even to the unfolding unto them all my revelations, saith Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Father of the heavens and of the earth, and all things that in them are." Now did you catch that?

How do we get to see all the revelations that Jesus Christ has? Well, up at the top it says that in some day we're going to exercise the faith that the Brother of Jared did. And that got me thinking, what kind of faith did the Brother of Jared exercise?

And so I started thinking about the story that we've been reading here. He had the faith to prevent his family's separation through language. In fact, he saved his friends and family there when he asked the Lord to prevent their languages from being confused and frustrated.

He had the faith to save his family and friends and take them to a new land. He had the faith to build barges he had never built before. And he had the faith to have the Lord light stones with his fingers.

In fact, he had the faith to see the Lord one-on-one. My friends, I want that kind of faith in my life. And so I want to pay attention to the things that the Brother of Jared does, because whatever he's doing, I want to do too.

I want to develop that faith so that I can have my one-on-one experiences with the Lord and allow the Lord to reveal unto me all the things that he would have me to know and to understand. That is a faith worth fighting for. That's a faith worth desiring to have.

And that is a faith that will make me and you as well just a little bit more savory on our path to savory salt. That's all for today, my friends. Remember that by small and simple things are great things brought to pass.

Keep it small, keep it simple, and always seek to be savory salt. I'll be here tomorrow and I hope you are too.
