Day 315 Believing the Lesser to Manifest the Greater
Show Notes
Join Allen Roberds on Savory Salt as he delves into 3 Nephi 26:9, exploring the powerful principle that believing in the "lesser things" recorded in the Book of Mormon opens the door for greater spiritual manifestations and future revelation. This episode emphasizes how genuine faith, demonstrated through action, can increase testimony of Jesus Christ and unlock profound miracles in our lives.
Key Points
- Mormon intentionally recorded only a small portion, referred to as 'the lesser things,' of Christ's extensive teachings to the Nephites.
- The central message from 3 Nephi 26:9 teaches that by believing and living the truths we currently possess, greater spiritual knowledge and manifestations will be revealed.
- True faith is an active principle, requiring us to not just hear but also to live according to the scriptures and divine guidance we have received.
- Engaging deeply with the Book of Mormon strengthens our testimonies of Jesus Christ, His Atonement, the Restoration, and the counsel of living apostles and prophets.
- Our current belief and commitment prepare us to experience future miracles and revelations that exceed what is already recorded in scripture.
So I am grateful that Mormon captured what he captured and I'm also excited to see what else lies ahead as we all show our belief in what we currently have.

In Matthew 5:13, Jesus tells his followers that they are the salt of the earth, and in the same sentence offers a warning that savorless salt is good for nothing. Join me in an attempt to be Savory Salt as I share each day one verse of scripture and one small thought. Perhaps this small daily emphasis can lead to greater savor in your life and ultimately you and I can be Savory Salt.
Hello, my friends and family, wherever you're listening from. Thank you for joining me and know that I'm cheering for your every success. How much do you believe in the words of the Book of Mormon?
Welcome to day 315 on our 365-day journey through the Book of Mormon together. Today, we're going to be reading 3 Nephi chapter 25, all of that chapter, and 3 Nephi chapter 26, verses 1-11. We need to make sure we understand because it also needed to come forward in the Book of Mormon as well.
And then we get to 3 Nephi 26. And on the front end of this, Christ is going to expound more things unto them. And we get an interesting piece of the passage today as we find out that Mormon can't even write a hundredth part of the things that Christ teaches the Nephites.
Now think about some of the things that we've heard him teach and preach to the Nephites. There are some pretty cool things. And we actually find out from Mormon that he's written the lesser things that Christ talks about.
And that takes us to our verse for today in 3 Nephi chapter 26, verse 9. Okay, so we find out that he's only written a tiny fraction and then we find out it's the lesser part. And then he says this: "Then shall the greater things be made manifest unto them." This is kind of a cool "if" statement here.
There's kind of a buzz sometimes around people saying, "Oh, when are we going to get new scripture? When do we get new revelation given to us?" And I think Mormon's trying to say, "Hey folks, it's very simple. You've got to believe the things that you currently have." And if you're believing those things, you're going to be living those things.
That's that kind of an action piece. That's what faith is. It's an action, right?
And then when you're doing those things, and you have faith in those things, then the greater things are going to be made manifest unto you. And this gets really exciting to me because I think about the amazing things that we find out from Christ. We see the miracles that he's performing and we hear apostles and prophets today tell us that our future is full of miracles greater than are recorded in scripture.
And I start to wonder and say, "Wait, are those some of the greater things that are being saved?" For us, if we can get to a level of faith and belief in what we've currently been given, we kind of have to earn those. And that gets really exciting for me. So my friends, as we're diving into the Book of Mormon here, I hope this is not just something that is a checklist item for you.
I hope this isn't just something that you open up and you go, "Okay, I've got to do this today just to get it done." I hope what's happening inside of this is that you and I are increasing our savor. This should be changing us. We should be increasing our testimonies of the Book of Mormon, which in turn would increase our testimonies of the Restoration, our testimonies of Jesus Christ and His Atonement, our testimonies of living apostles and prophets.
Those things should be increasing in our faith and belief as we go forward and read these words today. So I am grateful that Mormon captured what he captured and I'm also excited to see what else lies ahead as we all show our belief in what we currently have. That's all for today, my friends.
Remember that "by small and simple things are great things brought to pass." Keep it small, keep it simple, and always seek to be Savory Salt. I'll be here tomorrow and I hope you are too.
