In Matthew 5:13, Jesus tells his followers that they are the salt of the earth, and in the same sentence offers a warning that savorless salt is good for nothing. Join me in an attempt to be savory salt as I share each day one verse of scripture and one small thought. Perhaps this small daily emphasis can lead to greater savor in your life and ultimately you and I can be savory salt.

Hello, my friends and family, wherever you're listening from. Thank you for joining me and know that I'm cheering for your every success. We've done this before.

It's time to do it again. It's High-Five-a-Missionary Day. Welcome to day 312 on our 365-day journey through the Book of Mormon together.

Today, you're going to be reading 3 Nephi chapter 21, verses 20-29, and 3 Nephi chapter 22, verses 20-29. Our verse for today comes in 3 Nephi 21, as we look at verse 27 here. It says, Yea, the work shall commence among all the dispersed of my people, with the Father to prepare the way whereby they may come unto me, that they may call on the Father in my name.

My friends, what is that work that shall commence? That again, as we talked about it the last couple of days, is the gathering of Israel. And who do we primarily look to?

Although we all play a role in the gathering of Israel, who do we primarily think about and look to when we consider the terms gathering of Israel? And that is our missionary forces around the world. Today, it's about taking an opportunity to find a missionary.

Today is about taking a chance to say thanks to the missionary work around you. I don't care if it's a couple missionaries, if it's a single adult missionary, I don't care if it's younger missionaries around you. Find a missionary today and thank them for their service because they are about the work among all the dispersed of my people.

They are gathering Israel and I am grateful to them. I think about my own missionary experiences and then I fast forward. I've mentioned her before, but I think about my daughter's missionary experiences that she's having right now.

She's telling us stories as we chat on P-days about her friends that come literally out of the woodwork. They are just trying to do the best that they can. They're walking up and down the streets.

They're clapping. They don't knock doors. They clap in Argentina.

And yet what they're doing is finding those that are touched by the Spirit. I love this imagery here because the work continues and it continues in the four corners of the earth. So today, if you're a missionary and happen to be listening to this episode, thank you.

Thank you for opting into your missionary service. Thank you for choosing to be about this gathering. And for those of you that aren't but have missionaries around you, seek them out.

Give them a high five today. In the past I said, "hug a missionary," but I think that's not allowed. So don't hug a missionary, but high-five them.

Thank them. Maybe pay for their dinner or something. Thank the missionaries for the work that they're doing.

I testify that the missionary work is the work of the Lord commencing among all the dispersed of the Lord's people. That's all for today, my friends. Remember that by small and simple things are great things brought to pass.

Keep it small, keep it simple, and always seek to be savory salt. I'll be here tomorrow and I hope you are too.
