In Matthew 5:13, Jesus tells his followers that they are the salt of the earth, and in the same sentence offers a warning that savorless salt is good for nothing. Join me in an attempt to be savory salt as I share each day one verse of scripture and one small thought. Perhaps this small daily emphasis can lead to greater savor in your life, and ultimately you and I can be savory salt.
Hello, my friends and family, wherever you're listening from. Thank you for joining me, and know that I am cheering for your every success. Do you know what you're looking for?
That's a great question. Welcome to day 291 on our 365-day journey through the Book of Mormon together. Today, you're going to be reading 3 Nephi chapter 8, verses 1 through 18.
And inside of it, our episode today is actually going to be quite short because you got to be to do. But inside of 3 Nephi 8, verse 1, we see some signs of the death of Jesus Christ. And our verse comes right out of 3 Nephi 8, verse 4.
And this is on the front end before all of the earthquakes and the changes in land and the storms happen. And it says, "And there began to be great doubtings and disputations among the people, notwithstanding so many signs had been given." My friends, as we come to the Second Coming of Christ, do you know what you're looking for? I would put that with a little asterisk.
Do you know who you're listening to when it comes to the signs you're looking for? Today, I want to send you on a little adventure. I want to send you to the New Testament where Christ's disciples ask Him what are going to be the signs when He comes back?
And He tells them about that. The Apostle Paul testifies of what the days will look like when Christ is getting ready to come again. The Doctrine and Covenants talks about the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. 3 Nephi, when Christ comes and He talks to these disciples, the Nephites, He's going to talk about what it looks like.
My friends, do you know what you're looking for? Because I want to tell you now, it's not my place here to say what prophecies have been fulfilled and what prophecies haven't. That's not my place inside Savory Salt.
What I want to encourage you to do is to go on an adventure of your own. Look what those signs say from scriptural sources. Perhaps read from the prophets and see what they have said.
Our modern-day prophets have spoken. President Nelson spoke directly about this in the past General Conference. Take some time and get used to seeing what you're looking for, because I want to tell you, you will see what you look for.
That is both exciting! I'm so excited for the Second Coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. This is a short one today because you got work to do.
Spend some time in the Second Coming. Know the signs. These people knew the signs.
They were looking specifically for what Samuel the Lamanite told them would happen. Do you know the signs of our Savior's coming? Take some time and go learn them today.
That's all for today, my friends. Remember that "by small and simple things are great things brought to pass." Keep it small, keep it simple, and always seek to be savory salt. I'll be here tomorrow, and I hope you are too.
