In Matthew 5:13, Jesus tells his followers that they are the salt of the earth, and in the same sentence offers a warning that savorless salt is good for nothing. Join me in an attempt to be savory salt as I share each day one verse of scripture and one small thought. Perhaps this small daily emphasis can lead to greater savor in your life and ultimately you and I can be savory salt.

Hello, my friends and family, wherever you're listening from, thank you for joining me and know that I am cheering for your every success. Welcome to day 288, 288 on our 365-day journey through the Book of Mormon together. Today, we're going to be reading 3 Nephi, chapter 6, verses 1 through 14.

And we are going to go again through the circle because we are going to see incredible prosperity, incredible growth. And then on the tail end, we're going to sneak into the same cycle. It's almost as if Mormon is trying to teach us something there, my friends.

But today, let's dive into our verse, and I think it's a telling one. It's a very short one, actually. It's in 3 Nephi, chapter six, verse five.

It says, "And now there was nothing in all the land to hinder the people from prospering continually, except they should fall into transgression." Boy, if that's not a summary of the entire cycle that we read about inside of the Book of Mormon. There is nothing in all the land to hinder the people from prospering continually. Nothing, except they should fall into transgression.

Now, this one was really interesting because as I was thinking about this one, it came to mind like this idea, the whole concept of savory salt, that we become a little bit more savory. I am so glad. I'm sure he was using this podcast as a reference.

Okay, maybe I say that with a little tongue. But Elder José Teixeira just gave a general conference talk titled "Being the Salt of the Earth." And inside of it, he gives us four ways that we can perhaps focus on being salt of the earth. And I thought about with this verse, I thought, "Man, how do we stop this cycle?

How do we stay focused?" And so I thought, perhaps you can you can read his full talk in the link that I put inside the podcast episode, but I thought perhaps I'd just touch on the four ways that he suggested that we could perhaps look in our own lives. 1. Keeping the House of the Lord at the center of our devotion. So, attending temples.

If you've got an opportunity to go to the temple, do it as often as you can. 2. Being deliberate in our efforts to strengthen others by living the gospel together. So, kind of sharing our testimony and strengthening each other inside of those testimonies. 3.

Being willing to accept a calling and serving in the Church. Being active and staying active and helping others inside of your ward or your stake or whatever that may be. Serving others is an opportunity to be salt of the earth.

And then he says number four, finally, using digital communication tools with purpose. And this one's a big old chunk that he suggests inside of this. But looking at what we do with our digital communication tools, with our social media?

How do we reach out and use it with purpose? We're going to be talking about the Bible, the Bible, the Bible, the Bible, the Bible. I'll be here tomorrow, and I hope you are too.
