Join me in an attempt to be savory salt as I share each day one verse of scripture and one small thought. Perhaps this small daily emphasis can lead to greater savor in your life and ultimately you and I can be savory salt.

Hello my friends and family wherever you're listening from thank you for joining me and know that I'm cheering for your every success. Simon Sinek would tell you to start with why. What is it about knowing this purpose, your mission, your vision that gives you power?

Welcome to day 226 on our 365 day journey through the Book of Mormon together. Today you're going to be I'm going to read Alma chapter 46 verses 11 through 25 and you are going to see a very powerful example of what happens when you put your why behind everything you do. In fact you going to see it so strong that Captain Moroni has been an example time and time again of a man that is rooted in his purpose He truly has a vision of what he working towards and why he doing the things he doing In fact, that is our verse for today.

Let's take a look at Alma chapter 46 verse 12. And it came to pass that he rent his coat, and he took a piece thereof, and he wrote upon it, In memory of our God, our religion, and freedom, and our peace, our wives, and our children. And he fastened it upon the end of a pole.

This becomes what most of us know, for those of us that know the story, the title of liberty. But aside from that, it's much more powerful. This becomes the reason behind everything Captain Moroni does.

He's frustrated at what's happening with Amalickiah and he knows that there are people that believe in Jesus Christ around him, but they're passive or they've become complacent. And so, in an attempt to stir up their remembrance and to help them find He writes this phrase in memory of our God, our religion, and our freedom, and our peace, our wives and our children And this becomes the driver the motivator the great engine behind the incredible war machine that becomes Captain Moroni and the Nephites They go into battle time and time again with lesser numbers, with fewer men, with fewer resources, and they come out continually pushing back on the enemies of the Lamanites. It is interesting to see that after he does this through the rest of today's reading, you're going to see him kneel down in prayer seeking for the Lord's help before he does anything else.

And then he goes to collect those that will meet the mission. My friends, do you know why you're doing what you're doing? Have you attached your purpose and your mission behind it?

Sometimes, especially in the gospel, sometimes I think we get lost in doing the things because we're supposed to. Or doing the things because our neighbors are doing it or the ward members are doing it. And I think we get lost inside of remembering why we're doing what we're doing.

I want to encourage you to re-establish your why. What is it about the gospel that gets you excited? What is it about following Jesus Christ and making covenants with him that makes you want to be better?

I know my why but sharing my why does not help you establish yours I encourage you to take some time and write your title of liberty Put it in a journal. Put it on a piece of paper and stick it on the door to your bedroom. Put it on your mirror in the bathroom where you shower, like wherever it is.

Put that in front of you and remind yourself daily the power that can come through your Your purpose, your mission, and understanding why you're doing the things you're doing. It worked for Captain Moroni, so successful that he basically becomes undefeated. He works so hard to help establish this strength with the Nephites.

And if it works for Captain Moroni, my friends, it's going to work for you and me too. That's all for today, my friends. Remember that by small and simple things are great things brought to pass.

Keep it small, keep it simple and always seek to be savory salt. I'll be here tomorrow and I hope you are too.
