Show Notes

Join Allen Roberds on Savory Salt Day 186 as he explores Alma 22:21-35, focusing on the Lamanite King's profound conversion experience. This episode highlights the consistent Book of Mormon theme that personal conversion ignites a powerful desire to share the gospel and minister to others, prompting listeners to evaluate their own spiritual readiness to share their light and testimony.

Key Points

  • This episode marks Day 186, celebrating the 50% completion point of the 365-day Book of Mormon reading journey.
  • Allen Roberds reflects on Alma 22:21-35, where the Lamanite King's conversion after being raised by Aaron immediately leads to him ministering to his entire household.
  • A recurring theme throughout the Book of Mormon, seen in figures like Lehi, Enos, Alma the Younger, and the sons of Mosiah, is that personal conversion is deeply connected to the desire to share the gospel.
  • The Lamanite King's personal testimony and subsequent ministering resulted in the conversion of his whole household unto the Lord.
  • Listeners are encouraged to self-reflect on their own 'conversion rate' and their willingness to outwardly share their spiritual light and testimony with others.

Allen, if you don't have a desire to share this with others, perhaps it's an opportunity for you to check at your own conversion rate.

In Matthew 5.13, Jesus tells his followers that they are the salt of the earth, and in the same sentence offers a warning that savorless salt is good for nothing. Join me in an attempt to be savory salt as I share each day one verse of scripture and one small thought. Perhaps this small daily emphasis can lead to greater savor in your life and ultimately you and I can be savory salt.

Hello, my friends and family, wherever you're listening from. Thank you for joining me and know that I'm cheering for your every success. My friends, repetition is the mother of learning, the father of action, which makes it the architect of accomplishment.

Thank you, Zig Ziglar, for introducing us to the beginning of day 186 on our 365 day journey through the Book of Mormon. My friends, welcome to, if you finish your reading today, welcome to 50% of the Book of Mormon being completed. We are well on our path.

And at this stage, congratulations for every day that you have embraced your reading assignment and working through the Book of Mormon. I am impressed with you. Well done.

And I so excited to dive into today because it is a little bit of repetition which makes it what did we say The mother of learning the father of action and the architect of accomplishment Thanks Zig Let's look today at Alma chapter 22 verses 21 to 35. We're going to finish that chapter. A good chunk of the reading today is kind of a geography lesson for the Lamanites and Nephites.

So I didn't have a whole lot to work on with that one. But I do have this moment where Aaron and the king of the Lamanites seem to have a very similar experience to Ammon and King Lamoni in terms of the whole passing out with joy or repentance process thingamajigger going on. And this time, though, as he as the king passes out, Aaron gets in a little bit of some hot water with the wife, with the queen, and quickly goes over and raises the king of the Lamanites up.

And here's our verse for the day inside of verse 23. It says, Now this was done in the presence of the queen and many of the servants, meaning he had just raised the king of the Lamanites here. And when they saw it, they greatly marveled and began to fear.

And the king stood forth and began to minister unto them. And he did minister unto them in so much that his whole household were converted unto the Lord. Now you may know where I'm headed here folks, but I love these examples that the Book of Mormon seems to place over and over and over again.

That the example that somehow I don know the proportionate level but somehow our personal conversion is proportionate to our desire to share the gospel with others Our own personal conversion seems to have some sort of proportion to the desire that we have to share it with others. We saw it with Lehi in his dream as he partook of the fruit and he immediately was like, where is my family? They got to have this.

We saw it with Enos when he received a full forgiveness of his sins. And he immediately was like, what about my brothers and what about the Lamanites and what about all those? And he had a desire to share it.

We saw it with Alma the younger. We saw it with Alma the elder. We've seen it over and over and over again.

We saw it with Ammon, all the sons of Mosiah here. Their conversion, what did they do after their conversion? They said, we got to go to the Lamanites and we've got to preach the gospel.

And here we get it again. The king of the Lamanites has his own personal testimony and he immediately starts to minister to his family. And then from that, his family, the entire household is converted unto the Lord.

Today, with it being the 50% through the Book of Mormon day, it's worth a personal look in the mirror to say, wow, how much do I like to share the gospel with others? Do I hide my light under a bushel or do I cast that light out and let others see it? Not in a way that says look at me but in a way that says look to the Lord I love this example I love how repetitive it is throughout the Book of Mormon because it reminds me regularly Allen, if you don't have a desire to share this with others, perhaps it's an opportunity for you to check at your own conversion rate.

See how you're doing. Look at the things. Are you reading?

Are you praying? Church events from St. I have no other call to action with Savory Salt than to just share a little bit of scripture and share a thought on a daily basis.

So perhaps invite a friend to come and hear an episode here and maybe there they too can find their own conversion inside of these amazing words from the prophets of old. That's all for today my friends. Remember that by small and simple things are great things brought to pass.

Keep it small, keep it simple and always seek to be Savory Salt. I'll be here tomorrow and I hope you are too.
