Have I said that before? I think I've said that before. Today you going to be reading Alma chapter 22 verses 4 through 20 Inside of these chapters Aaron is now going to preach to the king of all the Lamanites who is King Lamoni father and he is ready to learn You can tell that he just hungry to learn He on missions every now and then you find those people that just tell me more please so that I can believe you and understand and that where we seem to find Aaron teaching the king of the Lamanites Our verse for today is going to dive into him in the middle of this instruction He being taught by Aaron and he gets to this point It's Alma 22, verse 15.
It says, And it came to pass that after Aaron had expounded these things unto him, the king said, What shall I do, that I may have this eternal life of which thou hast spoken? Yea, what shall I do, that I may be born of God, having this wicked spirit rooted out of my breast, and receive his spirit, that I may be filled with joy, that I may not be cast off at the last day? Behold, said he, I will give up all that I possess.
Yea, I will forsake my kingdom, that I may receive this great joy. This is awesome. Look at what he's with.
This is the king of the Lamanites. He's got a large kingdom. I'm sure as a king, he's got a lot of stuff.
Maybe even more stuff than we have in our modern day with all of our luxuries around us. And yet here he sits and he's so excited to hear about eternal life and what that could be. And he's excited to hear that Christ came and performed the atonement.
God bless you God bless you God bless you I want this in my life What does it cost Because I will pay anything and everything to have it I love this and it makes me really humble myself and think about my own circumstances What is the value of the gospel in my life I like to consider it very very valuable very high of value to me And I think about the perspective that he bringing here as a king to say that That he would give up everything he has, everything that he possesses, even his kingdom, so that he could experience the Spirit of the Lord and have that joy and that eternal life with the Lord. My friends, having an understanding of this, applying the Atonement in your life, feeling the Spirit, living worthy of the Lord's blessings, it's worth everything. Whatever it costs, it's worth everything.
It's worth relationships that hold you back. It's worth possessions that keep you distracted. It's worth leisure time activities.
Whatever it is that's preventing you and me from partaking in the Spirit of the Lord, it's worth giving those up. Because having the Spirit of the Lord, being born of God, and having this wicked spirit rooted out, and receive the Spirit and filled with joy is worth everything. And I love that Aaron sitting here teaching and the King gets to such a point that he like Please Aaron just tell me what it worth because I give it up Like what does it cost I give it up My friends the gospel of Jesus Christ is real and it true The atonement is real and it true And the amazing thing is what it costs is our sins That what it costs In fact, we see the king kind of realize that.
He's like, later on in a couple verses later, he's going to say, look, I'll give away all my sins to know this. That's what it costs. Think about the things in your life that are preventing you from having the fullness of the Spirit in your life and consider what you're paying.
Otherwise, those of you that are doing everything you possibly can to have that fullness of the Spirit in your life, well done. Well done. Nicely done.
Give yourself a high five. Know that I'm giving you a high five as well. I'm on your team cheering for you.
That's all for today my friends. Remember that by small and simple things are great things brought to pass. Keep it small, keep it simple, and always seek to be savory salt. I'll be here tomorrow, and I hope you are too.
