In Matthew 5:13, Jesus tells his followers that they are the salt of the earth, and in the same sentence offers a warning that savorless salt is good for nothing. Join me in an attempt to be savory salt as I share each day one verse of scripture and one small thought. Perhaps this small daily emphasis can lead to greater savor in your life and ultimately you and I can be savory salt.

Hello, my friends and family, wherever you're listening from. Thank you for joining me and know that I'm cheering for your every success. My friends, you're not alone, but are you willing to stand alone?

Welcome to day 163 on our 365-day journey through the Book of Mormon together. You're going to be reading today Alma chapter 9, verses 30 through 34. You'll finish that chapter and you'll also read Alma chapter 10, verses 30 through 34.

Well, Amulek is going to stand up and say, I am a second witness. Let's take a look and see what he says here. Verse 12.

And now when Amulek had spoken these words, the people began to be astonished, seeing there was more than one witness who testified of the things whereof they were accused, and also of the things which were to come, according to the spirit of prophecy which was in them. Now this astonishment came because there was more than one. And it got me thinking about a talk that President Thomas S.

Monson gave years back that they turned around and made into a little bit of a video. I'll put the link in here to the video if you haven't seen it. I've seen it, but it got me thinking about the willingness that Alma had first to stand alone, then to find support with Amulek.

In President Monson's example, he, in the Navy. They sifting everybody to go to their different religious activities for the day, and President Monson gets a little bit nervous standing alone as everyone sifts off to their different directions and meetings, only to turn around and realize that he not actually standing alone. There were others, nervous and full of anxiety as he was, to stand there and be counted amongst the Mormons of the day.

So it got me thinking about our willingness today, my willingness today, to stand up and be a voice for our Savior Jesus Christ. And have the faith inside of me to know that whether it looks like I'm standing alone, I love the message that President Monson has there. "Dare to Stand Alone." And then, I love the magic on the backside that we get from Amulek here. That when we dare to stand alone, we will find those around us to support us, and that will actually stand with us as we choose Jesus Christ and choose living his commandments.

That makes me feel good inside. I hope to be one of those people standing by you. If ever you have those moments where you stand alone, realize that I'm there doing my best to stand right next to you as well.

And in case me standing next to you doesn't fire you up, remember Alma and Amulek had an angel of the Lord standing next to them. When you stand with the Lord, you never stand alone. That's all for today, my friends.

Remember that by small and simple things are great things brought to pass. Keep it small, keep it simple, and always seek to be savory salt. I'll be here tomorrow and I hope you are too.
