In Matthew 5:13, Jesus tells his followers that they are the salt of the earth, and in the same sentence offers a warning that savorless salt is good for nothing. Join me in an attempt to be savory salt as I share each day one verse of scripture and one small thought. Perhaps this small daily emphasis can lead to greater savor in your life and ultimately you and I can be savory salt.

Hello, my friends and family, wherever you're listening from, thank you for joining me and know that I am cheering for your every success. Welcome to day 113 on our 365-day journey through the Book of Mormon together. And let's celebrate together, folks.

We have hit, through our readings, 30% of the Book of Mormon as of, I think, yesterday's reading, actually. Congratulations on working your way through the Book of Mormon. 113 days is no small feat. That is awesome.

And whether you've joined for all 113 or whether you've been able to join here and join there a little bit, here a little and there a little, it's been great to have you along the ride. Give yourself a pat on the back and say, "Wow, I am through 30% of the Book of Mormon already! What is happening in my life?

What am I becoming more like the Savior through spending my time inside the Book of Mormon?" Today's verses are going to increase that even another degree. So, well done! Congratulations!

Today, you're going to read Mosiah chapter 5, verses 6 through 15. You're actually going to finish Mosiah 5, and that will actually finish all of that King Benjamin component there in terms of his discourse and everything that happened with the people. And then you're also going to read Mosiah chapter 6, which wraps that up a little bit on the tail end.

These verses today are very powerful, and the things that happen from King Benjamin's preaching that happened to the people are incredible. I hope you have a chance to read into them and to feel spiritually some of the things that those people felt as they heard and witnessed the testimony that King Benjamin bore to them. Today's verse is Mosiah chapter 5, verse 7.

Let's take a look at what happened as a result of this preaching a little bit. Verse 7 says, "And now, because of the covenant which ye have made, ye shall be called the children of Christ, his sons and his daughters. For behold, this day he hath spiritually begotten you.

For ye say that your hearts are changed through faith on his name. Therefore ye are born of him and have become his sons and his daughters." This is a beautiful moment inside of all of these people that have come together to hear the words of King Benjamin. We actually learn inside of the reading today that everyone except for small children, everyone that listened to the words of King Benjamin made the covenants together.

When they did so, they received a name here. He said, "Ye shall be called the children of Christ." Names are awesome, and names are important to the Lord. Your identity is important to the Lord.

So much so that he had his prophet on the earth today, President Russell M. Nelson, speak to the world about names and identity. I don't know if you remember or not, if you've ever seen it or not.

I will absolutely put the link to the Church's broadcast of this on YouTube inside the podcast episode. In this episode, President Nelson spoke inside—he and his wife actually spoke together at a fireside—but inside of it, he helped us to remember that the way we identify ourselves is important. It matters.

He helped us remember and encourage us to see ourselves through three lenses, three names or three identities. The first, that we see ourselves as children of God. I am a child of God.

Second, that I see myself as a child of the covenant. How important it is that I keep the covenants I made with the Lord and see myself in that identity as a child of the covenant! And third he listed.

Go back and listen to President Nelson and spend time inside of Mosiah 5 here and look at the power that comes as the people embrace the name and how it changed them. Our names are important to us. Our identities are important to us.

I hope you can see yourself as a child of God, a child of the covenant, and a disciple of Jesus Christ. That's all for today, my friends. Remember that by small and simple things are great things brought to pass.

Keep it small, keep it simple, and always seek to be savory salt. I'll be here tomorrow, and I hope you are too.
