Day 80 Have You Had Enough of God's Word?
Show Notes
Allen Roberds explores 2 Nephi 29:8, prompting listeners to consider if they ever feel they've had "enough" of God's word and additional revelation. He contrasts this potential spiritual saturation point with our endless consumption of social media, discussing the powerful testimony of two nations (the Bible and Book of Mormon) as a witness of God's universal word.
Key Points
- Allen Roberds challenges listeners to reflect on whether they have a saturation point for God's word, unlike their continuous engagement with social media platforms.
- The episode focuses on 2 Nephi 29:8, which questions why individuals might murmur against receiving more of God's word and additional divine revelation.
- It highlights the principle that the testimony of two nations—like the Bible and the Book of Mormon—serves as a powerful witness that God is real and remembers all His children.
- Listeners are encouraged to deeply consider their desire for ongoing revelation and whether they actively seek to gain more from the Lord through the Spirit.
Have you had enough of the Lord? Have you had enough of His Word? Or do you look forward to continue gaining more from the Lord as he reveals it to you through the Spirit?

In Matthew 5:13, Jesus tells his followers that they are the salt of the earth, and in the same sentence offers a warning that savorless salt is good for nothing. Join me in an attempt to be savory salt as I share each day one verse of scripture and one small thought. Perhaps this small daily emphasis can lead to greater savor in your life and ultimately you and I can be savory salt.
Hello, my friends and family, wherever you're listening from. Thank you for joining me and know that I'm cheering for your every success. We're at a milestone here, day 80.
That means you have done this eight times, 10 times. Well done. Well done on your journey.
Thank you for joining me through this journey through the Book of Mormon. Today on your journey through the Book of Mormon, you're going to be reading 2 Nephi 28:1–2. And Nephi is going to talk directly about those that are going to respond to additional revelation and additional scripture being brought into their lives.
Let's look at verse 8 and see what he has to say about that. Verse 8 says: "Wherefore murmur ye, because that ye shall receive more of my word? Know ye not that the testimony of two nations is a witness unto you that I am God, that I remember one nation like unto another?
Wherefore I speak the same words unto one nation like unto another. And when the two nations shall run together, the testimony of the two nations shall run together also." This one's really interesting to me because if I were to kind of translate the beginning question that it's asking there, it's like saying, "Is there a point where you're actually saying, 'Thanks, Lord, but, you know, I got enough. I got enough of your word, Lord'?" And I thought about the world today, like social media, for example.
Okay? Is there a point where you stop and go, "Oh, I got enough Instagram videos"? Or do you just keep scrolling through Instagram?
Or do you stop and say, "Oh, you know, that's enough TikTok videos. Oh, that's enough"? Or, "Oh, I've read enough Facebook posts here"?
Or, "I've read enough—I don't even know what they are; I guess they're still tweets on X or Twitter, or whatever it is, right?" But we have such a consumption mentality when it comes to social media. And yet, when it comes to the Lord and His Word, do we hold that same consumption mentality? Do we want more from the Lord?
Or do we have a saturation point where we just say, "No thanks, but I've got enough to chew on right now"? The second quick thought, just to kind of tail end on that, is this idea of these two nations bearing testimony that the Lord exists and is real and that he is God. I love that because I think of Third Nephi later on in the Book of Mormon.
We'll get there, right? But I think of, and this opportunity, when Jesus Christ comes to visit the Nephites. And there's several chapters inside of there that you can take side by side with chapters from the Bible.
And you could really say, "Hey, if the Lord had an opportunity to visit, what things would he teach and what things would he talk about?" I love that. So I want you to pause today and consider if you've had enough of Instagram videos or enough TikTok videos or enough Facebook posts, or enough social media posts, whatever it is, and ask yourself if you're considering that same type of mentality with the Lord. Have you had enough of the Lord?
Have you had enough of His Word? Or do you look forward to continue gaining more from the Lord as he reveals it to you through the Spirit? That's worth digging into a little bit personally.
And that's all for today, my friends. Remember that by small and simple things are great things brought to pass. Keep it small, keep it simple, and always seek to be savory salt.
I'll be here tomorrow. I hope you are too.
