Join Allen Roberds on Savory Salt as he reflects on 1 Nephi 22:25, proclaiming a powerful vision of "one fold and one shepherd." This episode explores how Jesus Christ gathers His children from all corners of the earth, inviting everyone to come as they are and become unified in Him, finding safety and a future through His divine care.

Key Points

  • Nephi interprets Isaiah's prophecies, envisioning a future day when the Lord gathers all His children from the four quarters of the earth.
  • The central theme from 1 Nephi 22:25 emphasizes a future where followers of Jesus Christ become united as 'one fold and one shepherd' under His divine guidance.
  • Jesus Christ extends an invitation for everyone to 'come as you are' and, through Him, to be lifted and become more like Him, not remaining unchanged.
  • Finding 'pasture' in Christ signifies discovering safety, security, and an incredible, unified future for all who follow Him.
  • The reflection highlights the beauty of a day when those who know and follow Jesus Christ are brought together in perfect unity and peace.

He wants to take us as we are and lift us to be more like Him. So come as you are and become even better as you seek to be more like Jesus Christ.

In Matthew 5:13, Jesus tells his followers that they are the salt of the earth, and in the same sentence offers a warning that savorless salt is good for nothing. Join me in an attempt to be savory salt as I share each day one verse of scripture and one small thought. Perhaps this small daily emphasis can lead to greater savor in your life, and ultimately you and I can be savory salt.

Hello, my friends and family, wherever you're listening from. Thank you for joining me and know that I am cheering for your every success. Welcome to Day 38.

I love this one. It's got me all excited to share with you today. Nephi is kind of giving us a little bit of his interpretation of Isaiah's words and how he understands them and the things that he's learned from the Lord.

And if you're following along with me today on our Welcome to the 365-day journey to read from the pages of the Book of Mormon, you're going to read 1 Nephi chapter 22, verses 12 through 25. And I want to jump straight to our verse today because it gets me so excited. I look forward to this day that Nephi saw, and I think Nephi was looking forward to that day as well.

Are you ready? We're going to go to verse 25 itself. Right at the end of our reading for today.

This is what it says: "One fold and one shepherd. And he shall feed his sheep, and in him they shall find pasture." I love the imagery that Nephi is giving us here. Not only is the Lord going to gather His children from the four quarters of the earth.

This is everywhere. This is all; everyone's invited. Everyone's invited here.

They're going to gather from the four quarters. Everywhere you look, there's a way to divide yourself, to label yourself, to call yourself this and to call yourself that. And here Nephi sees a day when the Lord comes, and He gathers His children together and they become one in Him.

I love the idea here that Christ says, "Hey, come into the fold. So come as you are, right?" Bring yourself as you are. But then He's also saying, "Hey, come as you are and come in me." Come try to be more like Jesus Christ.

Christ has an invitation for all of us. He doesn't want to just take us as we are and leave us like that. He wants to take us as we are and lift us to be more like Him.

So come as you are and become even better as you seek to be more like Jesus Christ. And then in Him they all find pasture. They find safety.

They find an incredible future together. I love this verse. It is a beautiful verse speaking of the day when those that follow Jesus Christ are gathered together.

They know Jesus Christ, and Jesus Christ knows them, and then they become one fold under one Shepherd, and then in Him we find pasture. That's a beautiful one today. I love it.

It's got me feeling so excited for the day ahead. That's all I have for today, my friends. Remember that "by small and simple things are great things brought to pass." Keep it small, keep it simple, and always seek to be savory salt. I'll be here tomorrow, and I hope you are too.
