In Matthew 5, Jesus calls us the salt of the earth and the light of the world, reminding us that our lives are meant to preserve, illuminate, and point others to Him. This season on Savory Salt, we'll walk through the Old Testament, one verse and one thought each day. Perhaps these moments will add greater savor and brighter light to our lives as we seek to truly live as Savory Salt.

Hello, my friends. It is a new day with new opportunities. Choose ye this day whom you will serve.

How many of you have ever been in a church meeting and they say, "We're going to sing hymn number 85, 'How Firm a Foundation,' and we're going to sing verses 1, 2, 3, and 7." You ever been inside of that? And then maybe you've experienced one of the feelings I've experienced and said, "Why are we skipping 4, 5, and 6?" That's what got me thinking inside of our verses for today as we're reading this week Isaiah Chapters 40 through 49. After Isaiah's intro and kind of the first, you know, 30-some chapters, we get these warning chapters; we get the destruction chapters; we get the bad things are going to happen to the children of Israel chapters.

But really, when you get into Isaiah 40 through 49, we get a lot of the comfort chapters. We get a lot of the Lord promising that those that are trying to do their best are going to be restored. They're going to be protected.

They're going to be comforted. And we get that inside of our verse for today in Isaiah Chapter 41, verse 10. And it's going to sound awfully familiar for those of you who know well the hymn, "How Firm a Foundation." Verse 10 says this: "I am with thee; be not dismayed, for I am thy God.

I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness." "How Firm a Foundation." I love that verse there. "Fear thou not, for I am with thee." How often do we find ourselves struggling to get through the next five minutes, the next half hour, whatever it may be. Got to get through the next meeting, got to get through the next meal prep, whatever it is in our lives that we're trying to struggle through. And yet here the Lord says, "Look, I'm here." Be not dismayed.

I will strengthen thee. I will help thee. I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

I wanted to make sure that I included inside of here a link to at least one of the versions of "How Firm a Foundation." I like this one. I'm not necessarily always a fan of the Tabernacle Choir, but this is one that stuck out to me. I do like this rendition of it.

So I'm going to make sure that you've got time today to follow that link and listen to "How Firm a Foundation" by the Tabernacle Choir. My friends, I hope that you and I have an opportunity inside of our daily lives to seek the Lord so that we can establish ourselves on that firm foundation, find the strength, be not dismayed, and know that he is upholding us with his hand of righteousness. I am grateful for the influence of Jesus Christ in my life.

I'm grateful for the foundation that I have built to have him in my life. And I hope that you can take the time in your own personal study to continue daily to develop that foundation for you and your family as well. That is all for today, my friends.

You and I have come here for such a time as this. Step forward in faith and let's be savory salt. We will be here tomorrow and we hope you are too.
