In Matthew 5, Jesus calls us the salt of the earth and the light of the world, reminding us that our lives are meant to preserve, illuminate, and point others to Him. This season on Savory Salt, we'll walk through the Old Testament, one verse and one thought each day. Perhaps these moments will add greater savor and brighter light to our lives as we seek to truly live as Savory Salt.

Hello, my friends. It is a new day with new opportunities. "Choose ye this day whom ye will serve." Welcome back. My name is Kira.

I'm Allen's first oldest daughter. I'm back on the podcast. I'm so excited to be here.

My verse today that I wanted to share is from Exodus chapter 33. We're going to be looking specifically at verse 14. And it's only one line.

It's really not that big. But I feel like it has big spiritual impact on anyone who reads it. So, it reads, "And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest." So, in this part of Moses' story, they're all kind of looking for guidance, right?

So, this is the Lord's response to Moses' questions that he's asking on behalf of his people. And I think that this is very significant for anyone who is in the gospel, who believes in God, who believes in Christ. And even those who don't—people who don't believe in this—this is just an eternal truth.

This isn't something that you have to believe in for it to be true. It's just something that's always true. So anytime in your life that you're going through any doubts or questions or anything like that, if you're someone who's questioning what you believe in, I would tell you this verse: "My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest." That is so significant.

Anyone can have the presence of God. Anyone. Doesn't matter who you are, what you've done, what you've been through.

I mean, look at these people. Like, they keep complaining against God. They're not perfect.

They create their own gods. Like, these are not perfect people here. But God is telling them, "Look, I'm going to be with you.

My presence is going to go before you. I'm going to lead you where you want to go, where you need to go. And I'm just going to do that for you." Think of a father figure, right?

The ideal father figure. That's exactly what a father figure does for their children, right? They want to lead them to what's best for them.

They really want to give them the entire world. Anything that the father can give them, he will give. And I think that this is so significant.

Anytime that we're going through a hard time in our lives, we can remember that God is with us and that will never change, ever. And I love the fact that he says that he will give us rest. It says, "I will give thee rest." Not only do we get a presence of God in our lives every single day, we get the opportunity to have rest.

I feel like rest in the world right now is so hard to come by, right? There are so many things going on in all of our lives. And I feel like it's so hard to get to the point where you can feel like you were well rested.

Whether that's through the night, whether you're just taking a break from school, work, whatever it is that you're going through right now. From a spiritual standpoint, we're able to see that God is rest. So when we're reading our scriptures, when we're praying, when we're at church, or when we're talking about Christ, or when we're serving other people, that is rest.

That is the rest that he provides. And it seems like it shouldn't be, right? Because it's physical work.

It sounds like it's something that you have to do, that you have to strive to accomplish. But that's actually not what's happening. I'm going to be with you.

And not only am I going to be with you, but I'm going to give you rest, which is what you're looking for. And maybe sometimes that's not what we realize that we need. But when we listen to the Lord and we listen to this verse, He's able to tell you that it's okay to have rest and you need that.

And I'm able to provide it for you. So when we take the intentional steps to try and create that relationship with God to a point where we trust him enough and his presence to be able to have his rest and take that gift that he gives us, then we're able to fully develop in our faith and our testimonies and we're going to be able to see just how much that benefits us. That's all for today, my friends.

You and I have come here for "such a time as this." Step forward in faith and let's be Savory Salt. We will be here tomorrow. We hope you
