3.038 We are Part of Something Great

In Matthew 5, Jesus calls us the salt of the earth and the light of the world, reminding us that our lives are meant to preserve, illuminate, and point others to Him. This season on Savory Salt, we'll walk through the Old Testament, one verse and one thought each day. Perhaps these moments will add greater savor and brighter light to our lives as we seek to truly live as Savory Salt.

Hello, my friends. It's a new day with new opportunities. Choose ye this day whom you will serve.

Do you feel the rally cry? Can you hear it around you? I can't believe we're coming to the end of Moses chapter 7 already.

There's been so many verses that I've wanted to share, and yet here we sit near the end of a week, coming to the conclusion of this story of Enoch. The verse for today is a verse that answers a question that Enoch asked about the coming of the Lord again to the earth after he'd already been here. This is a time that we would call the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.

A time that comes as the Millennium rolls forward and all of these prophesied times that we've heard. And here the Lord gives us a vision of what it's going to look like and what's going to happen at the time. And it made me pause and think about President Nelson's call to the youth to be the Lord's battalion, the youth battalion of the Lord.

I didn't take time to put that link in this podcast episode, but I think you know the talk, the fireside, that I'm talking about there. Our verse for today is the Lord describing to Enoch what the day is going to look like as he gets ready to come. It's Moses 7, verse 62.

It is the second part of a sentence, so make sure that you catch 60 and 61 as well. But 62 says this: "And righteousness will I send down out of heaven, and truth will I send forth out of the earth, to bear testimony of mine Only Begotten, His resurrection from the dead. Yea, and also the resurrection of all men; and righteousness and truth will I cause to sweep the earth as with a flood, to gather out mine elect from the four quarters of the earth unto a place which I shall prepare, a holy city, that my people may gird up their loins, and be looking forth for the time of my coming.

For there shall be my tabernacle, and it shall be called Zion, a New Jerusalem." Now, perhaps you had an Article of Faith pop into your mind there as we were doing this, but there's a couple of phrases that stuck out to me in this that I wanted to point out. One, He's sending down righteousness and truth from heaven. If you go into the story earlier in this chapter and in the preceding chapters, you may be reminded that angels came down and brought the gospel of Jesus Christ to the prophets from Adam on down to Enoch and Noah.

And I wonder if there's some of that similar imagery here as righteousness and truth rains down. Another phrase that stuck out to me was that the elect are going to be gathered from the four quarters of the earth. And while you know that I don't do anything on the advertising side of this podcast, I do want to mention just for the sake of illustration, what it's like to have this go to the four quarters of the earth.

As I watch where the podcast gets downloaded, I would say that some of the places this has been downloaded are the four quarters of the earth, at least from the vantage point that I sit here in Utah in the United States. I've seen this downloaded in several countries in Europe, many countries in Africa. South America's had several countries' downloads.

Asia's had a ton from different places. The Philippines. We've had downloads in Indonesia, Japan.

We've had downloads down in Down Under, Australia, Papua New Guinea. The United Arab Emirates has had downloads. Even places in the Middle East have had downloads on this episode.

Now, this is Savory Salt, just a, you know, Allen sharing his testimony-type podcast. But do you feel the momentum behind the calling from our Heavenly Father to gather? And not just gather physically, although we will do that as we gather together in the New Jerusalem.
