In Matthew 5:13, Jesus calls us the salt of the earth, a bold reminder that our lives are meant to carry his flavor, his truth, and his love to the world. Join me each day to explore one verse of scripture and one thought, striving to stay full of savor and truly live as savory salt. Hello my friends, it's great to have you with me.
Today let's be anxiously engaged in a good cause and bring to pass much righteousness. A reflection on an incredible gift given to us from our Savior Jesus Christ. We are reading this week inside of Moroni chapters 2-8 and taking some time to reflect on the life of Jesus Christ as well.
And today couldn't hit at a better time as we read inside of Moroni chapters 2-8. Moroni chapter 6. There's a verse inside of Moroni chapter 6 as Moroni is talking here about attending church meetings and what it was like in his day for church members to come together.
He has a verse inside of here that I believe is kind of glossed over of sorts and yet such an awesome description of what it's like to be in the body of Christ. Let's take a look at it and see if you pick up the same way I do on the gift here. Moroni chapter 6, verse 8 says: "But as oft as they repented and sought forgiveness with real intent, they were forgiven." My friends, isn't that really the gift of the Atonement of Jesus Christ?
Forgiveness? Don't we all seek to have Christ in our lives because ultimately we're hoping to be forgiven? Isn't that a gift that we have the ability to give to everyone we come in contact with throughout our lives?
I love that we have an opportunity to make mistakes and still be in the grace and love of our Heavenly Father. We really are quite a graceful, a full of grace church. We believe in the grace of God and we believe that ultimately through Jesus Christ we can be forgiven as we turn to him.
I love inside of a talk by Brad Wilcox, here, it's October of 2021. I'll put the link inside of here. It's called "Worthiness Is Not Flawlessness".
I just want to share a little blip from it here. He says, "In short, we promise to press forward on our journey and God and Christ promise to refill the tank. Some mistakenly receive that message that they're not worthy to participate fully in the gospel because they're not completely free of bad habits.
God's message is that worthiness is not flawlessness. Worthiness is being honest and trying. We must be honest with God, priesthood leaders, and others who love us, and we must strive to keep God's commandments and never give up just because we slip up." Isn't that such a great message?
What a wonderful gift we have from a loving Savior. Truly as we reflect on the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ, isn't the gift worth reflecting on? The gift of forgiveness, and we have the opportunity, even the commandment from our Heavenly Father, to give that same gift to others in our lives.
I hope that whether it's amongst your ward family, your own personal family, your friendships, and yes, I might even extend it to those you struggle to get along with or even your enemies. Forgiveness truly is the gift in this season that Jesus Christ gives to all of us. Grateful for that in my life for sure as I find myself tripping up often, making mistakes.
I'm grateful to a forgiving family and especially to a forgiving Father in Heaven that allows me to do so and continue on my path to perfection. That's all for today my friends. Lift up your hearts and rejoice.
Please live under the covenants you have made and together we will be savory salt. For more information visit www.savorysalt.org
