3.313 Bring the Souls of Men unto Me
Show Notes
In this episode, Allen Roberds reflects on 3 Nephi 28:9, where Jesus Christ grants the Three Nephites the desire to remain on earth to bring souls unto Him, promising they would experience no sorrow. He explores the profound implication that if Jesus can remove sorrow for them, He can also remove our personal sorrows and fill our hearts with joy and love.

In Matthew 5:13, Jesus calls us the salt of the earth, a bold reminder that our lives are meant to carry his flavor, his truth, and his love to the world. Join me each day to explore one verse of scripture and one thought, striving to stay full of savor and truly live as savory salt. Hello my friends, it's great to have you with me.
Today let's be anxiously engaged in a good cause and bring to pass much righteousness. Do you and your family have a Three Nephites story in your family history? I love 3 Nephi chapter 28 and yes it is probably because of the Three Nephites and what we find out about them.
We're reading this week Doctrine and Covenants and highlight in and tag and The Church has put together such a cool app that allows you to do so many different things. Link scriptures together, put notes in there. I love it.
And this note that we're going to share today, that I'm going to share with you today, comes from 2018. My own thoughts years ago. What is that?
Seven years ago, right? August is the note. So we're in 3 Nephi chapter 28 here, and we find out that three of the disciples of Christ from the Nephites ask the Lord if it would be okay if they stay on the earth until he comes again.
And they want to do what John did, as we find out in the scriptures. And so the Lord grants them their desire of their hearts and says that they're going to be able to be on the earth and that they're going to be able to bring souls unto him for what we know now to be a few thousand years, right? A couple thousand years, I guess.
And so that's kind of cool when you think about it in hindsight, these men have been able to live and go about serving and bringing others to Christ. At least that's how we believe the story to be. That's how the record is written.
And inside of this kind of transitional time, Mormon who's recording this, I think it's Mormon at this stage that's recording this if I'm not mistaken. He kind of understands a little bit. He asked the Lord, like, how is this possible?
And the Lord kind of revealed unto him that they, you know, kind of had a change in their bodies or whatever. But something cool happened here that I want to share the story with. So let's get to the verse for the day.
I'm kind of rambling because I'm organizing my thoughts here, like as I'm doing this. Let's look at 3 Nephi chapter 28, verse 9. It says: "And again ye shall not have pain while ye shall dwell in the flesh, neither sorrow save it be for the sins of the world; and all this will I do because of the thing which ye have desired of me, for ye have desired that ye might bring the souls of men unto me while the world shall stand." Now the reason I love this verse in particular is, and the note that I have on here, notice that the Lord blesses them.
They're not going to have pain. So that's cool. If they have accidents, I don't know if the Three Nephites like drive cars and accidentally get in car accidents or anything like that, but they're not going to have pain.
But that other phrase right after it, it says, "neither sorrow." The only sorrow they're going to experience is sorrow for the sins of the world. And this is the note that I put in 2018 and it's the idea I want to share with you. If Jesus Christ has the ability to guarantee that these Three Nephites will never have sorrow while they go forward and serve him, then he absolutely has the ability to remove our sorrow from life.
Oh, sorrow is part of life, so we should all just be sorrowful. And yet here, one of the arrangements with the Lord and the Three Nephites, I believe Jesus Christ can remove our sorrow and fill it with joy and with love. I think he's done that for me in different instances in my life, perhaps one being the loss of my parents as I've mentioned before on this podcast.
The Lord absolutely can fill our hearts with love. Turn to him in your sorrows. And you too can perhaps have a little bit of Three Nephite in you as well.
That's all for today my friends. Lift up your hearts and rejoice. Cleave unto the covenants you have made and together we will be savory salt. For more information, visit us at www.savorysalt.org.
